Something magic about the footage I shot last week: you can’t feel anything except focused during the shoot. You’re at work. And in my particular situation I’m literally holding the future of my company in my hands and trying not to mess it up. I didn’t hang with LeBron James, I was trying to capture a moving target with a finicky manual technology with no real way of knowing how I was doing. It isn’t fun, it’s work.
Experiencing the footage? You’re 10. You’re a little kid. You get to talk to him, kick your feet, STARE without feeling bad, relive him walking down the lockeroom hall with his kid for the first time over and over… there’s no anxiety, no pressure - just unbridled joy at the access you have. Your brain believes you’re there. And it’s actually better than real life because you’re free to say and do whatever you’d like.
And all of this is because we’ve mastered shooting mobile and not being static. I want more than anything to have the meeting with the Lakers go so well this week they tell me to get something ready to post immediately. It’s worth the current $379 the quest 3 costs simply to feel these moments.
