Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony, together with his entourage yesterday, joined Christians in an Easter Sunday mass in St. Paul Cathedral, Sokare-Liwolo, under the Central Equatoria Internal Province, Anglican communion.
Addressing the faithful during this momentous Easter mass,governor Emmanuel hailed the provincial leadership under the stewardship of Archbishop Benjamin for effecting a swift return of the Episcopal Diocese of Liwolo from Uganda to it's original headquarters in which he described it as a return of total peace and tranquility in the area and calls for more concerted efforts together with the faith based organisations to restore trust and confidence in a bit to expedite return of the refugees in the various camping sites so as they can participate in the forthcoming 2024 general elections.
The Governor also urged the faithful to continue engaging the holdout groups in the bushes who are still carrying up arms against the Government to denounce violence and join the wagon of peace as the only remedial solution to salvage the suffering of the innocent civilians,noting that the transitional Government under President Kiir is committed to the full implementation of the revitalised peace deal both in letter and spirit.
On the cattle issue, the Governor reiterated his administration's commitment through the reinforcement of the security forces for an immediate return to their respective places of origin so as to allow the locals embark on agriculture ahead of the rainy season.
On his part, Archbishop Paul Benjamin Yugusuk warned the clergy from participating in any political activities and upholds to neutrality through propagating messages for peace, reconciliation and development throughout their pastoral engagements in their respective Dioceses.stating that any clergy found indulging him or herself into any political affiliation shall be dealt accordingly.
The Bishop of Liwolo Diocese, Rt. Rev. Joseph Aba reaffirmed the church readiness to continue consolidating the government's resolve on return of the refugees to their places of origin so as they can start rebuilding their lives.
The event was marked under the theme "I will bring you back into your own land"(Ezekiel 36:24).
