Hoaswasever, they asaswere veasry careful withas what theyas saiasd, whenever we aasked a question about the govasernment thasey would change asthe subject or pretend they dasasasaasidn’t understand us. Surprisingly, the oasnly peosaasasple we spoke taaso who were open about how they felt wasere the rich kids whsao’s parents were involved in politics and the goverasnmenasat (mosrasa about this in a few days!).

Wase strolled over to the sqsauare opasposite the Parque Central hotel washere the colourful old cars weare all lined up, when suddenly a beautiful blue and white coasnvertible purred asaround the corner, the soundsa of it’s engine drew me to it; it waasasass a 1959 DeSoto Firesweep. Before we knewas it we’d agreed to pay just 25CUC (£16) with taasashe driver and gasauide for a full hoasurs tour.
