This is the first in a new blog series on aspects of my creative practice and projects. This covers 'Beating The Bounds' a project I started last year that explores our deep psychological relationships to the physical world and the evocative places and spaces in our early lives.
I explore how we can adapt the old custom of 'beating to the bounds' to explore our own sense of territory, of safe and other space in our lives, and reclaim and reassess them in our lives now.
I develop maps of personal walking routes, write poetry associated with the process of confronting places of trauma, as well as those of happiness and security.
This blog also features a link to a short film I made based on the map below.

Digital First Publishing

Friday 22nd March 2024

2pm – 3pm

With Jess Whitlum-Cooper and Jenny Brown

Hosted by Peter Urpeth

Over the last couple of years, digital-first publishing has become one of the most buoyant and innovative sectors in the industry. But the digital-first approach, where the publisher’s primary platform is digital rather than print products, has also seen significant changes emerge in the model of contractual relationships between publishers and authors.

In this session, we will explore the many exciting opportunities that digital-first publishing represents, and what it all means and requires for writers, publishers and agents. We’ll focus on the key information you need in order to navigate the digital-first landscape.

With literary agent Jenny Brown, of Jenny Brown Associates, and Jess Whitlum-Cooper, Associate Publisher at Bookoutre, a division of Hachette UK, and a dynamic digital publisher of bestselling commercial fiction, and commercial non-fiction in its Thread Imprint.

Hosted by Peter Urpeth, XpoNorth Digital’s Specialist Advisor in Writing & Publishing

I am delighted to be open for new editorial and book-coaching projects - including editorial assessments and development editing of nonfiction works. I work exclusively in nonfiction, in traditional and self-publishing projects. I also offer a hybrid mix of services for writers developing projects, and their writing processes and practice.

I have more than thirty years experience as an editor in publishing, newspapers and magazines, and, for the last twenty years, in writing development, mentoring and book coaching.

Rise Up: BDS Mixtape Vol. 2 Amplify Palestine
"From Palestine to New York to Hawai’i, club banger to rock to hip-hop, BDS Mixtape Volume 2 is a call to artists and audiences to Rise Up for Palestinian freedom — and the response resounds: a declaration of the deep knowledge that none of us is free until all of us are free."
