BUSINESS LESSONS FROM THE STORY OF ASAKE!!!

O.l.o.l.a.d.e...M.i...A.s.a.k.e..

Yesterday, I saw a video of Asake's music concert at the O2 Arena, UK.

From the video, the hall was packed out, more than 20,000 people were present at the concert, and my head started calculating.

Each person paid 100 pounds to be at that concert, and more than 20,000 people paid to go and listen to Asake. Oh wow!!! He cashed out massively!!!

But then, my head was still thinking about this thing…

When did ASAKE come out?

How did he build his brand?

How is he able to do what most artist who has been in the music business for decades couldn't do?

What did he do differently that landed him on what most people call "overnight success"?

Asake didn't start out as a music artist, he was a cultural dancer that used to dance in festive occasions. In his attempt to be unique he added music to his dance craft.

When he got into Uni, he decided to flex his music prowess more, and this earned him popularity in school.

According to his close friend Yhemolee (nightlife influencer), Asake was known as the wizkid of their school, while he was known as the Steve Harvey.

In 2016, when they graduated from O.A.U, this was when reality dawn on them, they had to look for a way to help their life.

Yhemolee decided to move to Lagos where he thought the grass was greener. When he was living, Asake and their common friend followed him to Lagos.

On reaching Berger, Yhemolee had contacted a friend he was going to squat with in Ajah, while he asked Asake to return to his family house on the Island.

This was when the hustle began. Yhemolee began creating content for IG, one of those days, Don Jazzy and Tunde Ednut reposted his content in one day, his followers moved from 4k to 70k.

This was how his Influencing business started, and he got into crypto, this made him really comfortable.

Asake on the other hand was hustling, dropping singles that wasn't selling. Nobody knew him, he was so broke.

At one time he was a manager for Broda Shaggi. Follows Broda Shaggi everywhere he goes.

Yhemolee had blown, he had access to Big Boyz like Olamide and the YBNL family. He had released a song that Olamide was interested in.

Olamide asked him about a guy that featured in the song, during the conversation, Yhemolee chipped Asake in, "my friend is baddd, please listen to his single"

Baddo listened to one of his single called Omo Ope, he loved the single, he even did a verse for the song.

Note: Asake has been sending DMs to Olamide since 2018, but one person mentioned him to Olamide, then boom, HE BLEW!!!

In one year, "Asake moved from upcoming artist to a global artist".

Today he charges $50,000 per show. He's filling O2 arena. He's singing in Yoruba to oyinbo people, and their girls are falling under anointing.

I don't who needs to hear this, but you're doing your thing in one corner, and it's as though nobody is seeing you.

I need you to keep pushing, keep getting better at what you do, keep being resilient, persistent, and loyal.

One day just one day, one connection, recommendation, relationship will bring you to the limelight.

It will end in PRAISE!!!

"HUMAN Capital Development is important. With an annual population growth of 2.4%, and 70% of the population under 30 years of age, Nigeria has a potentially higher productive populace than most advanced economies where population growth is cooling off.

Nigeria needs to ensure that its youth are globally competitive by enabling them to attain high literacy levels, alongside work and vocational skills that make them employable and productive with or without tertiary education. We must develop policy that enables mass access at a local level, with incentives for the private sector participation through funding and other support initiatives.

Examples of programmes here can range from early introduction of software coding in public school curricula, to the creation of highly accessible and subsidized youth centres of vocational, technological, and entrepreneurial learning that are constantly adapting to relevant changes as these fields evolve globally.

Local enterprises should also be encouraged to provide internships to community youths as the impact of early sensitization to business is sure to boost capacity and productivity.

We will also need to invest heavily in education and monitor that the standards of learning and tutorship remain globally relevant at the public school level. We must uphold the importance of having a well-educated citizenry, as we know fully well that nothing uplifts people out of poverty like a good education, and a poorly educated populace makes for a poor national workforce in the future.” -
