স্বার্থপর আমরা সবাই। আমরা সবাই নিজের কথাই আগে ভাববো। এতে কোন দোষ নাই। আর আমার জন্য আমি ভাববো না, তো কি আপনি আমার জন্য ভাববেন? কিন্তু সমস্যা তখনই বাধে যখন, একজন আরেকজনকে স্বার্থপর বলে খোঁটা দেন আর নিজেকে নীস্বার্থ এক মহামানব বলে প্রমান করতে চান। অনেকেতো আজীবন নিজেকে নীস্বার্থ ভেবেই কাটিয়ে দিল, এমন কি সে নিজেও জানে না যে, সে কোন পর্যায়ের স্বার্থপর। যারা এমন ভ্রান্ত ধারনা নিয়ে সবসময় নিজেকে নীস্বার্থ মনে করেন, তারা একবার ভেবে দেখুন তো আপনি কি আসলেই তাই। যেটাতে নিজের লাভ, নিজের সুখ-শান্তি জরিত সেটাকে নিশ্চিত করার জন্য আমরা প্রত্যেকেই যে যার যার অবস্থান থেকে চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছি। কিন্তু কারো কারো স্বার্থপরতা যখন হিংস্র পশুর রূপ নেয় তখন নিজেকে ভীষণ নীর্স্বাথ মনে হয়। আমরা স্বার্থপর আর পশুত্বর মধ্যে যেন পার্থক্য করতে পারি। মানুষ চাইলেই তার স্বার্থপরতায় লাগাম দিতে পারে কিন্তু পশুরা তা পারে না। আর তাই আমরা সৃষ্টির সেরা জীব “আশরাফুল মাখলুকাত”।
