Press for Red Vienna:

A powerful introduction to a band whose heart lies in the darker corners of early-‘90s Brit rock. - Georgia Straight

Red Vienna has definitely created a unique record they can call their own. This is the best thing I have heard in recent memory. - Spun

Expect softer, more spacious passages centered around thick pulsing bass lines while washes of hard panned guitars bounce chords and notes off one another; harder-hitting and more rocked out power chords that boast unexpected dashes of heaviness; and loads of riffs that throw in killer melodies and vocal hooks. Very much recommended. - Aversionline

Red Vienna is a super-catchy, 80s inspired band that has echoes of both Joy Division and Rick Springfield. As great as that sounds on paper, it sounds even better in real life, I promise. Very highly recommended. - Long Island Press

Red Vienna - The Book of Hours
2025 reissue. Black vinyl with printed inner sleeve including complete lyrics.

Press for The Book of Hours:

Like a Houses of the Holy merger between Led Zeppelin and Joy Division or Killing Joke. - The Province

Heavier and darker than its post-rock first album, droning dance beats suggest the duo has been listening to more Killing Joke and British shoegaze bands like Ride. - Vancouver Sun

Their modern take on alternative/post-punk with a shoegaze edge is now gravitating away from the catchy energy of their early material in favor of consistently darker atmospheres, dominated by pulsing tempos that utilize a lot of excellently throbbing basslines and stripped down percussion—leaving plenty of room for assorted guitar textures to swirl in, out, and around alongside the generally soft singing. It’s an approach that seems to have been increasing in popularity as of late, but Red Vienna is definitely operating in their own unique corner of this stylistic niche—relaxed and chilled out, ominous without being overly aggressive. There’s a noir-ishness to it. - No Echo

Press for Tomhet:

RED VIENNA make post-pop for rock n’ roll dreamers. It’s haunted by melodic basslines, eerie riffs, and a driving drum beat, with vocals full of a melancholy gentleness. - CVLT Nation

Beautifully bleak. Over the past decade, the trio has honed their unique take on post-rock/punk into an increasingly perfect balance between the chilling darkness of lush midpaced bass runs, glistening splashes of guitar, and deceptively memorable vocal hooks that are cryptically somber beneath a masquerade of grace. This is perhaps most evident throughout the group’s latest two-song EP. - Aversionline
