This is Melissa Vivianne Jefferson, a classically trained flutist. Born in Detroit, she grew up in Houston and was attending the music school at University of Houston. After her father passed away when she was 21, she decided she didn't want to take a traditional path with her music, lived out of her car for a year and a half, and moved across the country in pursuit of her dreams.
And she made it. You know her today as Lizzo, and she is more than fu***ng qualified to handle any goddamn flute handed to her, just like any classically trained violinist could handle a Stradivarius. So sit down and calm down. Jimmy Mad's crystal flute you had NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS ASKED HER TO PLAY IT is fine and will be fine for years to come.
If you want to be mad about something, how about you pick from the following: American Citizens in Puerto Rico who were devastated by a Hurricane weeks ago and have received 1/1000th the coverage of Hurricane Ian (we see you Florida, you also matter); protestors dying in Iran protesting the murder of an 18 year old woman beaten to death by the morality police because her hijab wasn't to their standards; the fact it took 3 fu***ng years for Elijah McClain, an innocent, neurodivergent black man who police grabbed and then killed while restraining him in Colorado to have his death certificate updated from undetermined to "complications of ketamine administration following forcible restraint".
There is a LOT in the world to be genuinely, really angry about. A trained flutist handling and playing a historical flute does not make the list.
Keep doing what you're doing, Lizzo honey. It's Good As Hell.
