Connie Francis was a massive success in the early 60’s and once again I am reminded how lucky I was to have started my career at about the same time.
This photo shows that we met and were comfortable with each other.
I wish that we’d met more often. She was a lovely person and a great singer, and I have to admit that Connie, two or three times, beat me to the number one position here in the U.K. God bless you Connie. R.I.P.

Sad to hear the news in the studio today that Connie Francis has sadly passed away.

Many great songs including Pretty Little Baby which made its comeback this year due to a TikTok trend and the rebuttal to Cliff in her song When The Boy In Your Arms.

Teal - Teal had been our reigning champion until last year when it got knocked off the top spot. But reclaims its title for 2025!

Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Live Aid. Cliff was busy doing a gospel tour at the time but appeared live at the London night club Legends on the 13th July, 1985 and performed A World Of Difference

The Live Aid event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

BAND AID - How the Money is Spent

In the financial year to 30 November 2024 Band Aid has awarded grants of £3m across 16 projects to date.
Activities in 2024 include:

Provision of life saving medicines and medical supplies.
Access to basic healthcare for rural communities
Strengthening the support of health services in Tigray
Therapeutic food for malnourished children and vulnerable adults
Emergency grain supplies
Drought resistant crops
Income generating activities and vocational training
Construction of basic housing to support old and vulnerable people
Construction of emergency shelters for refugees
Provision of clean water and sanitation training across multiple refugee camps in Ethiopia
Training to prevent gender-based violence in communities
Hygiene and sanitation support for adolescent girls
Construction of schools and libraries, and provision of classroom furniture
Cash distributions for vulnerable households
Rehabilitation of boreholes and wells for schools and communities
School feeding programmes in Tigray to support children returning to education

The estimated number of beneficiaries totals more than 350,000 people.

Money raised from BandAid40 will continue to fund similar activities in Ethiopia and the surrounding countries.
