CONGRATULATIONS, RYAN MURPHY 👏

Even after his graduation, Ryan is still impacting this program. The WKU School of Media & Communication graduate earned a 4th place in the national television features for the Hearst Awards.

ABOUT THE HEARST AWARDS 📝

Often called “The Pulitzers of college journalism,” the 66th annual Hearst Journalism Awards Program offers 14 competitions annually including four writing, two photo, one audio, two television, four multimedia and one podcast awarding up to $700,000 in scholarships, matching grants and stipends. There are over 100 universities of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication with accredited undergraduate journalism programs that are eligible to participate in the Hearst competitions.

Last year the Western Kentucky University broadcasting department finished 9th in the nation. The WKU School of Media & Communication ranked second in the overall competition.
