Tonight’s Strawberry Moon Will Light Up the Sky!
Look out for the stunning Strawberry Moon, reaching its full phase at 8:44 a.m. BST on June 11, but appearing full for two nights. The best viewing times are tonight, June 10th, when it rises around 9:45 p.m. BST, and into the early hours of June 11th, rising again at 10:48 p.m. BST.
🌟 Why the name?
It’s named for the strawberry harvest season, not its colour.
🌟 A Rare Lunar Standstill
This moon will sit lower in the sky, appearing larger and more striking – a phenomenon that only happens every 19 years.
No special equipment needed – just go outside and look up! 🍓🌕

The Farmers Arms is preparing to reopen its doors under new ownership, beginning with a special drinks-only opening this Bank Holiday weekend. This marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the beloved countryside pub.

We will be offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere complete with our canal side beer garden, quality cask ales, and a family- and dog-friendly environment. Guests are invited to stop by, enjoy a pint or two, and be part of the revival of this much-loved canal side pub.

Traditional pub food will be introduced in the coming weeks as the team works to restore The Farmers Arms to its full charm and character.

Victoria Road Beach walkover is now closed!

⚠️Victoria Road beach walkover closed ⚠️
Preparations are continuing on site for the planned conservation work starting in May, which will see huge amounts of rubble removed from the beach and dunes in the Victoria Road area.

Here’s the latest update if you’re planning a visit:

💪🏻Regular volunteers have been working with the ranger team and an ecologist to install specialist wildlife fencing around the dunes.

🦎This is so that we can carry out final ecological surveys, contain and translocate rare sand lizards away from the rubble dunes and work site area.

🤫Thank you for keeping your distance from the fenced off areas to enable the team to carry out this crucial, time restricted and delicate phase of the project undisturbed.

↔️You can still access the beach to the north and south of the car park through the dunes. Please follow diversion signs.

🚶 For easier access on to the beach via a boardwalk please head to our Lifeboat Road car park in Formby.

🧱Safety fencing has also been placed around the main area of rubble spilling out on to the beach.

🌊Please check tide times before you visit and plan your route so that you don’t get cut off by the tide. For safety reasons you cannot walk along the fencing on the beach at high tide.
