It’s been a hot minute since I’ve given a “why” life update, so let me step back a few years…
When I was pregnant with Raef (ya know 2020) we went through some low times. Not seeing people as often as we wanted to, my pregnancy was weirdly exhausting, record freezing temps that kept us inside, closed gyms that kept us inside etc. we started to make “easy” and convenient decisions about life rather than ones that stretched and grew us to be better.
Then Raef was born and the journey to learning more about our bodies, their functionality, how to live our best lives began. We made some small changes like home air filters, water filters, getting rid of plastics etc. but the roller coaster of Raef’s health took priority. Many days was survival mode, although thankful for the Lords strength through it all, the stress started to build up too. And then an across the state move hit us hard. Just so many life factors shifting and changing that we were putting one foot in front of the other but not ever feeling steady.
That’s when we really started noticing a difference in all of our health, not for the good. But if the prior two years had taught me anything it was that we knew we wanted to get to the root cause of things and to learn what was best for us. I can’t say I love tag words of “crunchy” or “clean” but the truth really is we have just become more AWARE of what we put in and on our bodies. We are aware of ingredients and how they can affect us. We utilize social media to educate ourselves from very reliable sources and then work with doctors and natropaths who specialize in these areas.
The first place I started was the “Switch Natural” app - it helps to scan products to understand ingredients and how they affect your body. This was when I made the big switch in my skincare. I knew if I wouldn’t let Ivy use it, I shouldn’t be using it. Then came many other switches that I love to share in my IG stories and here on Facebook.
All that to say, our family is on a constant journey to live well! It’s not a “quick fix” but taking care of the bodies God gave us for this earthly life is the goal. So if you ever see me sharing something that aligns with our family goals it’s not just because I am able to make additional income for us, but it’s really because I’ve vetted it, tried it, love it and if I can help someone else with an area of their lives to live well I sure will 🫶🏼
So if you have read this far God bless ya 😆 I got windy, but if I can give any advice it is to trust your gut. If you feel something is off, seek answers, don’t be afraid to do the hard work. And if someone says “no thank you” to the snack, drink etc. they know isn’t good for their bodies that is ok! And if you ever have questions about our experiences don’t hesitate to reach out!
