Who did this to my horse!?

Research their behavior, communication and needs. Want to understand them. Once you achieve that. They’ll better understand you ❤️

Under the FEI’s new rider induced blood rule in jumping, any blood on the horse, whether caused by the rider, the tack, or the equipment, triggers an automatic veterinary check. If the Ground Jury and Veterinary Delegate agree the horse is still fit to continue and the case does not involve excessive use of the whip or spurs, the rider may receive a Recorded Warning rather than automatic elimination. Only excessive use of the whip or spurs, or more serious cases of blood, leads to mandatory disqualification.

While I understand the intention behind the rule, I have a strong welfare concern. In my view, rider induced blood on purpose is abuse, and rider induced blood by accident is incompetence, and in either case, a horse should not have to continue competing. High level riders should be skilled enough to avoid causing injury, and any horse showing blood should be withdrawn for its wellbeing.

If this rule truly benefits horses, then it should apply consistently across all FEI disciplines. At the moment it does not, which raises the question: if welfare is the priority, why is the standard not the same everywhere? And why aren’t they willing to communicate with their audience?

A BACK STEP IN HORSE WELFARE! USE YOUR VOICE, FLOOD SOCIAL MEDIA, DEMAND CHANGE! EVEN USE THIS IMAGE!!

have passed a rule meaning rider induced blood in Showjumping is no longer automatic elimination but instead a warning system will be introduced. Allowing riders to not only abuse once BUT TWICE ! If you’re drawing blood from an animal, you have no place in our industry. The FEI Executive Board have no place in our industry and should step down from their positions. Despite push back from both British Dressage and British Showjumping who will be sticking with their own welfare rules, FEI still went ahead to change this rule.

Use your voice, share this image and get this rule change reversed before it comes into effect!

Shame on you

Monday Reminder, Slow Down, today is not your forever

If you’re rushing through this, pause. Take a breath.
You might already be in flight mode, speeding through your morning without even noticing.

It’s Monday. For some, it’s a fresh start. For others, it’s a heavy weight another week you don’t feel ready for. I get it. And I mean it, whole heartedly, it made me ill.

You don’t have to love Mondays to make them meaningful.
You just have to slow down enough to live them and not survive them.

If you’re stuck in a job you don’t enjoy, facing things you’d rather avoid, or just feeling off, that’s okay it’s not your forever. But don’t rush yourself through it like you’re trying to escape your own life. Your today is not your forever.

Even small moments matter. Brushing your teeth, making your coffee, stepping outside for a breath of air, these are tiny acts of self-care. Don’t rush them. Let them remind you that you still matter.

Ask yourself this morning, Are you making any time for you? Or are you just surviving, autopiloting through another week?

Your job isn’t your life. Your routine isn’t your identity. You get to choose what moments are yours.

Find one thing today that makes you feel good, even for five minutes. And if it makes you feel good, do it more often. And whilst you do it more often, find new things to make you feel good. Until there are so many things to look forward to, that all you feel is good. That’s not wasted time. That’s you taking your power back.

If you fill your days only with what drains you, life will always feel heavy. But if you find even a small balance, one moment of joy in the chaos, you’ll start to live again.

Slow down and start living your week, not just surviving it
