On 29 December 1969, 55-year-old Muriel McKay was kidnapped from her London home in a chilling case of mistaken identity. The kidnappers, brothers Arthur and Nizamodeen Hosein, thought they were snatching Rupert Murdoch’s wife and demanded a £1 million ransom. Muriel was never seen again. Both men were convicted of kidnap and murder in 1970, even though her body has never been found—a landmark “no body” conviction in the UK. More than five decades on, her family is still fighting for the right to search new sites where they believe she may be buried.

A Body in the Ashes: Discovery in Lampblack SwampThe morning of December 26, 1907, dawned cold and gray over Harrison, New Jersey. Case File: Omaima Nelson (Costa Mesa, 1991)
Over Thanksgiving weekend 1991, 23-year-old Omaima Aree Nelson killed her 56-year-old husband, William “Bill” Nelson, inside their Costa Mesa apartment. Investigators found evidence of dismemberment and reported that parts of his remains had been cooked, a detail that shocked even seasoned detectives.

At trial, Omaima claimed self-defense and abuse; prosecutors argued calculated cover-up. In 1993, she was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 28 years to life.

This case remains one of California’s most disturbing Thanksgiving crimes—and a stark reminder that intimate partner violence can escalate without warning.

On Nov. 24, 1971, a man using the name Dan “D.B.” Cooper hijacked Northwest Orient Flight 305, demanded $200,000 and four parachutes, then lowered the Boeing 727’s rear airstair and jumped into a stormy Pacific Northwest night. He was never found.

The FBI’s NORJAK investigation ran for decades; in 1980, a boy found $5,800 of the ransom on the Columbia River’s Tena Bar. No confirmed suspect, no trial, and in 2016 the FBI suspended active investigation.

This case is still unsolved, and remains after fifty-four years, half crime story, half American folklore.

In November 2020, 26-year-old Houston influencer Alexis Sharkey vanished over Thanksgiving weekend. Her body was found the next day on the side of a road—later ruled death by strangulation. Friends said she’d been terrified and was planning to leave her husband. Months later, Houston police said her husband, Thomas “Tom” Sharkey, was the sole suspect and obtained a murder warrant. When U.S. Marshals moved in to arrest him in Florida, he died by su***de.
This case is a hard reminder: leaving an abusive relationship is the most dangerous time.

On May 26, 1990, 40-year-old Marlene Warren was at home in Wellington, Florida, when someone dressed as a clown arrived at her door with balloons and flowers. When Marlene answered, the clown shot her at close range. She later died from her injuries.

For a long time, the case was unsolved. Detectives, however, believed the motive was connected to an affair involving Marlene’s husband. Decades later, with renewed investigative efforts and corroborating evidence, the husband’s lover was finally held accountable.

It’s a reminder that cold doesn’t mean closed—and that justice can arrive years after the crime.

The Mother, the Elevator, and the Missing Minutes

In 2008, Liu Huijun (劉惠君) and her 4-year-old daughter entered the elevator of a commercial building in Yuanlin, Taiwan. CCTV captured behavior that still unsettles viewers: visible panic, removing jackets (and even shoes), hitting the 11th floor, stepping out—and vanishing.

No confirmed exit on other cameras. No discovery on the roof or stairwells. No verified trail afterward.

Why strip layers in an elevator? Heat stress? Panic response? A cultural/superstitious reflex? Or a deliberate attempt to mislead anyone watching? Investigators chased every angle—voluntary disappearance, off-camera interference, tragic misadventure in blind spots—but no theory has ever cleared the bar of proof.

Two lives disappeared in a building that never gave them back.

On today’s episode of Hitched 2 Homicide, we untangle the timeline, walk the camera placements, and test the most cited theories against the physical layout. If a single camera saw fear, where are the frames that should show escape?

PART TWO: The Lindbergh Case—From Discovery to Verdict, and the Secret Families Abroad

On May 12, 1932, the body of Charles A. Lindbergh Jr. was discovered in woods near Hopewell, NJ, ending a nationwide search and beginning one of the most intense investigations in American history. The marked ransom bills led detectives to Bruno Richard Hauptmann, and a homemade ladder—the so-called “wooden witness”—was forensically matched to a board from his attic.

In 1935, the “Trial of the Century” unfolded in Flemington. Prosecutors leaned on the money trail, the ladder forensics, and handwriting testimony; the defense challenged IDs and methods. The jury convicted; 1936 brought Hauptmann’s ex*****on, and he maintained his innocence.

The case reshaped law enforcement via the Federal Kidnapping Act, and the debate over accomplices vs. lone actor never truly stopped.

Decades later, another chapter surfaced: DNA confirmed that Lindbergh fathered three children in Germany; additional reports allege as many as six or seven in total across multiple relationships. In Part Two, we separate confirmed facts from unverified claims and talk about the men who believe they ARE the Lindbergh baby.
