Come, Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel's strength and consolation,
Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Dear desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.
Born Thy people to deliver,
Born a child and yet a King,
Born to reign in us forever,
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring.
By Thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone;
By Thine all sufficient merit,
Raise us to Thy glorious throne.

The holidays can be difficult especially if your significant other is deployed. Covid adds an extra layer that makes travel to family difficult. Plus the fact that often military are states away from their families can make travel expensive.

So this morning I was praying for all of us who are having a lonely Thanksgiving or unmet wishes and that God would be present in the pain and disappointment. Praying that God would show you His love in unexpected ways this Thanksgiving!

Wishing y’all a joyous and restful Thanksgiving! -Amanda and Olivia 💕

Feelings come and feelings go,
And feelings are deceiving;
My warrant is the Word of God--
Naught else is worth believing.

Though all my heart should feel condemned
For want of some sweet token,
There is One greater than my heart
Whose Word cannot be broken.

I'll trust in God's unchanging Word
Till soul and body sever,
For, though all things shall pass away,
HIS WORD SHALL STAND FOREVER!
Martin Luther

The one seated on the throne will shelter them: They will no longer hunger; they will no longer thirst; the sun will no longer strike them, nor will any heat. For the lamb who is at the center of the throne will shepherd them; He will guide them to springs of living waters, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. - Revelation 7:15b-17

With the amount of crazy going on in the world right now I’m finding it easy to fill my mind with politics, health articles and all the 2020 memes. My mind literally starts swirling from one quick scroll on Instagram or Facebook.

Our pastor said something yesterday that I can’t stop thinking on... picture two dogs your “spiritual dog” and a “carnal dog”. If you are only feeding your spiritual dog once a week on Sunday and a few times a week and constantly feeding the carnal dog with amount of worldly influences than when a battle or decision comes up which dog do you think we will win? Picture your spiritual dog being a chihuahua and your carnal dog a pit bull.

Last week I have found myself frustrated by the amount of fighting going on social media. I had to completely reroute my mind, I had to start filling it with truth from the word, I had to preach the gospel to myself. Friends, we are in a battle and if we don’t prepare for this battle we will be depressed by the world, overwhelmed by evil and ultimately lose the battle in our mind. The good news, we have all things in Christ and power to overcome with the help of the Spirit.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. - Ephesians 6:10-13

“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.” - Isaiah 54:10

Some mornings (more often than not?), I groan when my alarm rings. Just 5 more minutes. I’m not ready to start the day, to jump into the busyness of motherhood, yet again. Often, my to-do list floods into my mind—a mile long it seems. I start to worry about an appointment later that day, whether I’ll have the right words when training my children, or if I’ll have the energy to do 5 loads of laundry.

But, when I look out the window and see the new day dawning, the earth isn’t waking with groanings or anxious thoughts. No, it is declaring something very different.

Psalm 19:1-2 says “The spacious heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaim his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech and night to night reveals knowledge.”

As each day begins, creation is speaking about God’s character. The rising of the sun, reminds me of his faithfulness and goodness to give light and warmth for my work. The rustling of leaves and chirping of birds, brings to mind His care and provision—that He is sovereign and will keep all things in motion.

So friends, instead of groaning at another day, let’s look out our window, and take comfort in the Creator. May our first thoughts be of the grace and comfort we have in Him and may we, along with creation, begin our day praising Him for his faithfulness.

To Him be the glory,
He's coming again
And all of the sadness
Will come to an end
Oh what a reunion,
The bride and her King
Forever we'll praise Him,
Forever we'll sing

Oh look and see our God and celebrate
The power of the cross and empty grave
And now we're free, let the redeemed lift up your heads Oh look and see our God

You dance over me
While I am unaware
You sing all around
But I never hear the sound

Lord, I'm amazed by You
Lord, I'm amazed by You
Lord, I'm amazed by You
How You love me

You paint the morning sky
With miracles in mind
My hope will always stand
For You hold me in Your hand
Lord, I'm amazed by You
Lord, I'm amazed by You
Lord, I'm amazed by You
How You love me -Phillips, Dean & Craig

O LORD, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time forth and forevermore. - Psalms 131
