Alternative Words for "Improvement"
Words such as advance, upgrade, develop, and enhance express the idea of making something better or becoming better than before.
We are called to grow in both body and spirit. Scripture emphasises this in Romans 12:2:
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may improve what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
How Can We Continue to Improve?
The Bible offers clear and practical guidance for personal growth. In Romans 12:9–18, we find 21 principles that can lead to consistent self-improvement:
1. Let your love be genuine.
2. Detest evil.
3. Hold tightly to what is good.
4. Show deep affection for one another in brotherly (Godly) love.
5. Do not be lazy in your work.
6. Be fervent (hunger, diligence) in spirit.
7. Serve the Lord wholeheartedly.
8. Rejoice in hope.
9. Be patient in difficult times.
10. Be constant in prayer.
11. Share with those in need.
12. Be hospitable.
13. Bless those who persecute you.
14. Bless them—do not curse them.
15. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
16. Live in harmony with one another.
17. Do not be proud, but associate with the humble.
18. Do not think too highly of yourself.
19. Do not repay evil for evil.
20. Live honourably in the sight of all.
21. As far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
When we commit to practicing these principles, we will very much so see positive transformation in our lives.
