Success and Other Lies takes a summer break. 😊 And wow! This has been such an exciting time.😍 We launched a podcast that we started thinking about in December. Now it's grown into a project that Lucie and I are so proud of and thankful for. 🙏
There has already grown a very inspiring and lovely community around us. We are regularly deeply touched to read your feedback and how the things we talk about resonate with you! 😌

We want to use the summer break to reflect and to come up with new ideas and topics. 😃

As promised on the last episode: I finally wore my vintage leather jacket this week 🙏🏼

During the little heat wave we experienced in Ireland, I didn’t have much need to wear a jacket for once 🙈 but I did it anyway when it cooled down today 👏🏼

Watching the Olympic Swimming 🏊‍♂️ this week is a good reminder that my strong shoulders were formed with passion to make me a strong butterfly competitor in my youth — and they are nothing to be ashamed of 👏🏼💪🏼

Is hair just hair? In a way yes, but somehow it's so much more than that. 🤔 I've always felt uncomfortable when I was judged on my looks. In episode 07 I am sharing my experience about how this amplified when I cut my hair short.
Trying to rebel against beauty standards can be hurtful but liberating at the same time. 🙏

Especially women are used to be judged by their appearance from early on. This can be tiring. 😒

So I can only empower you break the 'rules' once in a while and do whatever the heck feels good for you! ♥️

What does success have to do with shame? 😳 In EP 03 I am talking about a recent experience where I felt ashamed for being successful. 😒 But there are so many layers more to this.
This is me at my graduation almost 10 years ago. I am just receiving an award for exceptional performance in Latin. 📜 Yeah I know. I was quite a nerdy girl. 🤓 While I was educated to always be modest when it comes to my successes, my social environment has often reinforced this behavior as well.

There is a combination that often comes hand in hand. 👯‍♀️ - Shaming blended with misogyny.

"OMG, she is so uncool, studying all the time?!" or "How did she even deserve this?" I have experienced being shamed for successes by others and I am just realizing and reflecting on it almost 10 years later. But you know what? It's never to late to reflect on patterns. Others' misogyny is not your problem. ⛔
Break the pattern, be proud of your successes and help others to celebrate theirs. ❤️💪 // Bini //
