The SSPDF-IO has promoted (10) OFFICERS IN THE SOUTH SUDAN PEOPLE’S
DEFENCE FORCES IN OPPOSITION (SSPDF-IO).

In exercising the authority vested upon me under Chapter 03, Article 13(2.0) read together with Article 14(6.0) of the South Sudan People's Defence Movement / South Sudan People's Defence Forces in Opposition Constitution, Act, 2024 I, Gen. Toby Madout Belal, Chairman and Commander in Chief of SSPDM/SSPDF-IO, do hereby Promote (10) Officers to various ranks in the SSPDF-IO as categorized below, This decision is based on the esteemed consultation with the High Command Council and recommendations from the offices of the Chiefs of General Staff of SSUPSF, SSRSF, NLMA, symbolizing progress and unity within our forces.

Press Statement for Immediate Release

Information regarding the meeting on Friday, 31 January 2025, between General Toby Madout Belal and General Simon Gatwech Dual.

The leadership of SSPDM/SSPDF-IO informs all diplomatic missions, media agencies, and the public that Gen. Belal, the chairman and commander-in-chief of SSPDM/SSPDF-IO, has been in contact with Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, the chairman and commander-in-chief of the SPLM/A-IO, Kit-Gwang. They discussed the issue in Port Sudan and reached several conclusions.

1. The leadership of SSPDM/SSPDF-IO is unwilling to participate in the Port Sudan Peace Talks with the SPLM/A-IO Kit-Gwang and the South Sudan government delegation unless they receive a genuine invitation.

2. The SSPDM/SSPDF-IO is not involved in the Port Sudan Peace Talks or the Tumaini Initiative for the South Sudan peace process in Nairobi, Kenya.

3. The SSPDM/SSPDF-IO will only accept mediation for peace talks in South Africa or Sudan.

4. The leaders of both South Sudan and Sudan can address and resolve this issue.

5. The two sister countries’ foreign affairs and defence ministries are working closely to tackle the issue. Relevant stakeholders are engaged in diplomatic efforts to secure lasting peace and reinforce common concerns to prevent future conflicts.
