Laura DeHaven recently joined Hospice SLO County as a Grief Counselor, supporting individuals or families grieving the loss of a loved one or dealing with anticipatory grief. Previously, Laura has been a coach and care partner for older adults and their family caregivers, helping them navigate around decision making, finding balance and self-care, and an advocate and care partner with older adults in long-term care settings. Most recently, she spent 5 years as a Bereavement Counselor with Wilshire Hospice.

"Walking alongside a person who is dealing with grief and loss is a privilege and an opportunity. It inspires me to hear stories of loved ones, see people access their strengths and begin to make their way into life as it is for them now, bringing with them the gifts and love of the people, animals or capacities they may have believed were lost to them. I am constantly reminded that we are wiser and more courageous than we realize. Everyone at Hospice SLO is passionate about serving this community. The more I learn the more inspired I feel, I am so glad to be part of this team!”

Friends in North County - we need help!

Are you able to volunteer an hour or so of your time once or twice a week? We need people to help clean and freshen the cubbies at the adoption center at Petco.

We have kittens available for adoption in Petco Paso Robles. Our fosters are currently adding to their workload by going to Petco daily to clean the cubbies. We'd love our non-foster community to pitch in!

Please message us if you are able to help. This could be a great summer volunteer project for your kids! Anyone under 18 years of age just needs to be accompanied by an adult.
