Greif, a global leader in industrial packaging products and services, has announced it will permanently close the steel and polymer drum facility in Merced, California as part of its previously announced optimisation efforts.

The decision to close the facility, which produces both steel drums and large and small polymer containers, is an important part of delivering on the company’s commitment to remove $100 million in cost from the business.

Silgan Holdings Inc., a leading provider of sustainable rigid packaging solutions, announced strong second quarter 2025 financial results, reporting net sales of $1.54 billion—an 11% increase over Q2 2024.

Adam Greenlee , President and CEO, said: "Our Metal Containers business (Silgan Containers) performed well and delivered significant second quarter adjusted EBIT growth, with another quarter of mid-single digit volume growth in pet food."

Crown Holdings has reported strong second-quarter results for 2025, helped by an increase in global demand for beverage cans, particularly in North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

The company highlighted a 1% rise in beverage can shipments in North America, consistent with expectations, alongside continued shipment growth in Europe and the Middle East. These gains contributed to a 9% year-over-year increase in segment income, which rose to $476 million in Q2.

Our friends at Acumence for Can Manufacturing has introduced a series of platform enhancements.

Acumence has supported the can manufacturing industry for over 21 years. Today, the solution is deployed in 52 locations across 22 countries.

Acumence 6.4 introduces improved application UI and navigation, four new advanced controls for adding content to dashboards, and quick start features.
