The Bauchi State Police Command has smashed an armed robbery syndicate, arrested two suspects and recovered fi****ms as well as stolen items.

The spokesperson of the command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

According to a statement, the suspects confessed to purchasing the fi****ms from an anonymous source in the Alkaleri Local Government Area and engaging in robberies in the Gwallaga and Behind NIDB areas of Bauchi.

The suspects also admitted to stealing motorcycles and household items, including pots, which were then sold at Muda-Lawal Market.

“On January 8, 2025, based on intelligence information received by the Command indicating that one Abubakar Yakubu and Almustapha Hassan were suspected of being in possession of locally-made fi****ms,” the statement read.

"Upon receiving the report, the Command's operatives, in collaboration with the Peace and Security Committee, swiftly located the suspects’ residence, apprehended them and conducted an immediate search. During the search, two fabricated pistols were found hidden in the ceiling.

"During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having purchased the fi****ms from an anonymous source in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi.

"They further admitted to frequently conspiring to carry out multiple robbery operations. The suspects revealed that their primary areas of operation were the Gwallaga and Behind NIDB areas of Bauchi.

"During their robberies, they steal motorcycles and household items, such as pots, with buyers already lined up at Muda-Lawal Market. After stealing pots, they destroy and package them in kilograms for sale.

“Additionally, when they robbed motorcycles, they dismantled them into parts and sell to various buyers, also known as “Yan Bola Jari,”. The suspects were also found in possession of motorcycles, which they claimed to have bought with proceeds from their robberies.”
