Y’all know I’m pretty transparent. I don’t do fake, and I don’t do filters. So let me share something God checked me on during prayer.
The Lord told me, “Pay attention to who you call sir and ma’am.”
Now before you run with that… hear me out.
If you’ve ever talked to me, you know I say “sir” and “ma’am” to just about everybody—older, younger, doesn’t matter. I was raised that way. My family taught honor long before anybody preached it to me.
But here’s the revelation God showed me:
There are some people we honor…
that take it as a sign of superiority.
Like your honor is feeding their ego.
I said, “Lord, explain that.”
And He did.
“Some folks mistake your honor as evidence that you think they’re above you. But I put you in the same rooms on purpose.”
Whew.
See, my dad grew up in the South where honor wasn’t optional. Sir and ma’am weren’t a preference—they were a pattern. I picked it up from him naturally. But somewhere along the way, what started as honor could’ve quietly turned into an identity of “less than.”
And God had to remind me:
Honor is good.
But don’t lose who I called you to be.
You’re not beneath anybody.
And you belong in the rooms I send you into.
I’ve been in rooms with millionaires… rooms with people the world calls “stars.” And I still said sir and ma’am. But here’s the difference now. If i say it, I’m saying it from honor, not insecurity. i also know how to be equal and be me.
Because I’m qualified to be in those rooms too.
And so are you.
Just a little something from my prayer time.
Hope it hits where it needs to. 🙏🏽💛
