Space science and technology applications once fully harnessed, can answer many of our country’s problems. Highlighted in today’s Kapehan are the ways by which we can use satellite and drone technologies, as well as other existing technologies in addressing food security, disaster and risk management, environmental monitoring, and even infrastructure development monitoring.
The question is, what are we doing with the current resources that we have in optimizing their use to address urgent problems that spell the survival of those most affected.
Why are the discourse all in future tense? Because scientists have been harping very substantial means of making things happen, but policy makers perhaps are not listening. Also, as articulated in this conversation, scientists should be involved, engaged, and made part of the national planning process at least in these areas that are deemed important.
