Newest custom Rider-Waite tarot deck for Ronald on New Jersey! He requested an entirely red back and matching red edges, I’ve never done edging on the cards before but they’re plenty thick enough and turned out great. These have my regular original RW fronts, aged to perfection in Photoshop and then printed and hand-aged around the borders right here in my studio. Solid red printed on the backs and then red ink to hand-finish the edges of each individual card. Here is my handmade reproduction of an antique Minchiate tarot, dating to the late 1700s. This deck is distinctive for having 97 cards rather than 78, because it includes the 12 zodiac signs (see Cancer the Crab in the third pic), as well as the four elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) and the three graces. The antique linework is amazing and the colors are still super vibrant - I got these images from digitized records housed at the British Museum, then handmake and hand-antique every deck. In this pic you can see the antique Italian griffon pattern I created for the card backs.
