Breaking News!!!

With Collaboration from the Liberia National Police, and Immigration Service (LIS), Jack Chen, a Chinese national, and a Ghanaian, Obed Burikoney, popularly called Kwemie, have been arrested for involvement in illicit mining activities in Tuzohn, Grand Gedeh County.

The compliance enforcement team from the Ministry of Mines and Energy spotted the two men carrying out semi-mechanized mining operations using excavators, and causing environmental pollution, using a Class ‘C’ Mining License as their reliance. Such act is strictly against provisions of the Minerals and Mining Law of Liberia.

Both suspects have been turned over to Liberia National Police Sinoe Countdy detachment office in Greenville City. They will be further processed and brought before the investigative Board at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and later turned over to the Justice Ministry for prosecution having come in conflict with laws and regulations governing mining of minerals in Liberia.

The Mines and Energy compliance team also reached out to the Alantic Mineral Company’s Heavy Mineral Sand (HMS) processing site in Morgan Community, Greenville, SInoe County. Its findings include the company operating without a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which should clearly state benefits for communities in its operations area. The Atlantic Mineral Company also has in its employ, citizens of Vietnam who do not have immigration documents.

The team uncovered that the Atlantic Mineral Company in Sinoe County which has three (3) HMS plants, and with each containing several cyclones for processing, does not render any level of assistance to the community in which its site is situated.

The Minister of Mines and Energy, Wilmot Paye, has stressed that these compliance enforcements are intent on cleaning up the mining sector to rid the sector of unscrupulous individuals whose intention is to bypass lawful procedures and cause environmental degradation in communities across the Country, and refuse to pay revenue needed to support national development programs. More updates will be provided from the field operations of the Ministry of Mines and Energy in the southeastern region of the Country.

US Embassy reassured Liberians of its continuous support to Liberia but says the CDA Rodriguez exercised her right not to listen while the orator exercised her Right to free speech…

“In light of recent events at the Liberian Independence Day Celebration, the United States Embassy wishes to address concerns regarding Chargé d'Affaires (CDA) Rodriguez’s decision to leave the event.

The United States and Liberia share a unique history and democratic values. Unfortunately, the national orator introduced divisive rhetoric and unfounded accusations. The United States has a long history of providing foreign assistance, amounting to at least $163 million annually.

This is separate from the U.S. government's contributions to several international organizations that also provide aid to the Liberian people. Additionally, numerous U.S. foundations, private American citizens, and nongovernmental organizations are dedicated to uplifting the Liberian people.

Independence Day is a time for hope and unity. CDA Rodriguez’s decision to walk out was a measured response to the orator’s comments.

While the orator is entitled to freedom of speech, the CDA chose to exercise her right not to listen to such remarks.

The United States remains a steadfast partner to Liberia, dedicated to fostering a positive and collaborative relationship based on shared values and mutual respect. We look forward to continuing our work together, now and in the future, for the benefit of both nations.”

EFFL Response to Former President Weah

Our commitment to the establishment of the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Core Team under President Boakai's leadership has been unwavering. We have invested significant time and effort into this quest without any room for compromise. However, we are deeply concerned about recent developments that threaten to undermine the progress we have made.

It has come to our attention that certain political figures, acting as self-appointed pulpit preachers or political gangsters, along with misguided individuals, are attempting to disrupt the functioning of the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Core Team. These individuals seem to believe that they can use their association with former President Weah to thwart the efforts of the duly elected government and push Liberia back into dark times.

We are prepared to challenge such an undemocratic mindset and to move Liberia towards a democratic path. Weah and his gangsters should know by now that we don't move away from battle. If you put out 25 men, we will put out 200 men as well. We brought this government to power, and we will protect the government. We categorically reject any attempts to destabilize the work of the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Core Team. Such actions not only hinder our collective efforts to recover stolen assets but also pose a grave threat to the stability and prosperity of Liberia.

This also confirmed that the CDC administration looted our country intentionally and doesn't want to account for their leadership. We call upon the international community to take note of these concerning developments because we will not sit back and allow certain kinds of people to undermine our people. Former President Weah's apparent support for individuals who seek to sow discord and undermine the rule of law must not go unnoticed. Liberia is not a playground for criminals seeking to plunder its resources. It is time to stand together against those who wish to bring war and chaos to our nation.

We urge all stakeholders, both domestic and international, to support President Boakai's administration in its efforts to combat corruption, restore accountability, and uphold the principles of justice. Together, we can ensure that Liberia's future is not marred by the mistakes of its past. We urgently call upon the international community to closely monitor the actions of former President Weah in light of recent troubling developments. Since the establishment of the Assets Recovery and Property Core Team, it has become increasingly apparent that former President Weah is actively working to undermine its operations.

We are deeply concerned by reports indicating that former President Weah is mobilizing gangs and former fighters to disrupt the functioning of the Assets Recovery and Property Core Team. Such actions pose a serious threat to the rule of law and the stability of Liberia. It is imperative that the international community remain vigilant and actively engage with the situation unfolding in Liberia.

The attempts by former President Weah to obstruct the work of the Core Team must not go unchecked. Liberia's future depends on the successful recovery of stolen assets and the restoration of accountability. We stand ready to work with the international community to ensure that the rule of law prevails and that justice is served for the people of Liberia.

Senate Pro-tempore Conspires Against CDC.

Source: Bana FM.

Investigative reports gathered by Bana FM reveals that CDC Executive Committee Member and Senate Pro-tempore, Albert Chie covertly donates 25 pick-ups to the opposition Unity Party

The Unity Party has been seen parading the streets with brand new pick-ups over the last few days.

Our sources informed this station that Pro-temp Chie is said to be working with the UP and other opposition blocs at the senate to prevent the opposition community from potting out a candidate against him in Grand Kru County.

This, according to our sources, is to allow the Grand Kru County Senator to get reelected in the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections.

Our sources narrated that Senator Chie has admitted of giving the vehicles to the Unity Party but claimed that it was only seven 7 vehicles that he gave, adding that the seven cars were given to him by his Indian business partners.

But when contacted the Chief of Office Staff of Pro-temp Chie, Lavoisier Julu refuted the information, terming it as a lie and his boss can never do such a thing.

According to him, it was B**g County Senator Prince Moye who promised legislative staffers a pick-up and fulfilled his vow, adding that others have attributed the gesture to his boss.
