PDX area friends - Coming up October 7th we have a community gathering and bazaar. There will be a raffle with all profits going to All for Armenia, an org which is feeding, clothing and meeting other immediate needs of displaced Artsakhtsis being forced to flee their homes right now after months of starvation under blockade by the occupation.

There will be SWANA and BIPOC vendors at the event, some of the raffle goods will be coming from their shops! Western friends, I still don't see any real support from you towards the SWANA region ravaged as a result to western imperialism and greed. It's never too late to show your solidarity & support for those experiencing ethnic cleansing and genocide. Shukran and Shnurakaletsyun ahead of time to everyone who shows up.

I have been numb all day, all month, all year. What is there left to say, what is there left to process. How do we get people to see us as human, as deserving of a peaceful life. We want our people to live, we want to see our people grow old and not lose another generation to the cruelty of occupiers.

Last night I woke up feeling something was wrong, and shattered after seeing the news. Watching my family’s ancestral home torn to shreds again. Not knowing who is alive. Not knowing what happens next. There is not much more to say that has not already been said. Making art is the only thing I can do to resist, to soothe, to take down history.

We will remember every room which was silent and turned its head away from our people asking for an ounce of solidarity. As the occupiers work together in their goals of ethnic cleansing, our people build solidarity to resist. Glory to the martyrs. Free Artsakh, Free Palestine, may azerb*ij*n and isr*el drown in flames.

PDX friends, show up. Even if you are not Armenian. This space is intended for Armenians to be able to hold each other and grieve and for any allies to hear us and learn. Artsakh has been handed over to occupier Azerb*ij*n with no guarantees of indigenous Armenian safety. After 9 months of starvation, the people were under nonstop attack and b*mbing. There are mass evacuations. Mass human rights violations. Continuous Genocide. Some refusing to hand over weapons and will continue resistance to their last breath.

Bring a poster, bring yourself and a friend. I will have flyers to hand out. I am so sick of hearing excuses, like I heard during the protests for the POWs, like I heard during the protests for Armenia under attack, for Artsakh under attack, for the blockade, and even for Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. We are all busy, we all have things. Make the time. I have nothing else I can say or give.

Long live Armenian resistance. Today and always, Artsakh is Hayastan.

Stop participating in colonial holidays which glorify ultra nationalism, patriarchy, capitalism, and oppression. “bUt fiReWorKs pReTtY” is not an excuse to participate in colonizer or imperial holidays.

I think it’s great to utilize these days off from work to spend time with your loved ones, rest, and educate family members who have bought into the colonial conditioning! F**k colonial “independence,” my cat agrees and hates the loud yelling and fireworks. Have a safe flag burning day.

We remember, we resist, and we demand justice. Every waking moment, every breath we take as Armenians is resistance against genocide. Every action we take is in honor and memory of our ancestors and their survival, a continued fight against occupation, a continued demand for Armenian liberation which goes hand in hand with our Palestinian siblings liberation.

Today we remember all the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek lives lost and the horrors survived at the hands of Turkish genociders. To this day Turkey continues to deny the Armenian Genocide while openly celebrating the nightmares which so few of our great grandparents and grandparents survived, and the nightmares which our parents and siblings endure at the hand of Turkey and Azerbaijan to this day. This is why we continue to march, protest, resist genocide denial, resist cultural theft and erasure, and demand justice. I will continue to demand justice as long as I have oxygen to do so.

“A Letter from the Front” by Mariam Aslamazyan. I absolutely loved this museum of Aslamazyan sisters and their work in Gyumri. I had no idea it existed and glad my friends at Newmag brought me on my last day in Armenia in November. Of the two sisters Mariam is my favorite artist. This painting is of Armenian women dressed in clothing of different regions’ of Armenia receiving a letter. They appear to be reluctant to open it. Women receiving bad news from the front is nothing new for our nation. The pain in their faces remains in us. Women always appear to endure the cruel world created by men, sacrificing their children to it.

Why is nobody talking about Keenan Anderson, a 31 year old father and teacher who got executed by LA pigs in broad daylight? He was held down and shocked with 50,000 volts over and over, it was 100% racially motivated.

Oh right I forgot the American “left” only cares when it’s a fad to care about human rights. Same people staying real silent about the ongoing ethnic cleansings in Artsakh and Palestine, funded & armed by Americans and Europeans.

It has been A MONTH of Artsakh being held hostage by occupiers. Starvation is a tactic used by occupiers and cutting resources is a tactic used by occupiers in order to weaken a population while enacting further ethnic cleansing and land grabs. Many parts of Artsakh are already fully occupied, and fully ethnically and culturally cleansed. The occupiers are targeting the remaining indigenous Armenian population.

We are so tired. We are tired of the west funding our people’s suffering. Those of you silent or changing the subject as fast as possible or acting like bringing this up is “annoying to you,” we see you and we will not be forgetting your lack of empathy.

My ancestral home is being ravaged by occupiers. My great grandparents graves have been bulldozed over. Berdzor, Shushi, Hadrut - my family’s ancestral homes all stolen while the world watched and sent strongly worded letters. They behead our elders, rap* and mutilate captured women on camera while laughing, and torture POWs - the world offers strongly worded letters. Now the remaining villages are being starved out, while the world watches and writes strongly worded letters again. Silence makes you complicit. Not wanting to offend the oppressor so “just staying out of it” makes you complicit.

Posted • Armenia's Foreign Ministry is warning that the risk of famine within Artsakh is now "tangible." With the humanitarian situation deteriorating rapidly, a group of more than a dozen nongovernmental organizations has warned that all conditions for ethnic cleansing by Azerbaijan for the region are now in place.

Several Western nations have stepped up to seek an end to the blockade, but the European Union needs to do more over humanitarian concerns. Since the EU is a significant buyer of energy coming from Azerbaijan, their involvement on the increasingly serious situation is vital for the people of Artsakh’s future.

If they don't do it, who will act?

Artsakh has been under blockade for almost a month now by occupiers who are starving and freezing people out. 120,000 people are being held hostage.

Happy new year, here have some homemade Armenian memes on the house. This is my present to all the SWANA, Central & South Asian babes, (and also the comrades in southeastern Europe affected by turkish fascism). And don’t forget while you all celebrate the solar new year that 120,000 indigenous Armenians of Artsakh are being starved out under blockade from the rest of the world by the occupying Azeris, going on day 21 now.

May all invading occupiers drop like flies in the upcoming solar year. Long live YPG, YPJ, ASALA, and Armenian, Kurdish and Palestinian resistance against occupation.

We are approaching 11 days of the inhumane blockade of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) from Armenia and the rest of the world. People are running out of food and medical supplies. This is yet another humanitarian crisis started for land grabs. After international pressure, the Azeri occupiers turned the gas back on after days of denying a basic resource in the middle of freezing winter condition, to the already vulnerable population of Armenians in Artsakh. This is a tactic of ethnic cleansing and Genocide. Not only have the Azeris still not faced consequences for their war crimes against the indigenous Armenian population, previous gas cuts, and land grabs, they are now emboldened to continue these crimes due to the overwhelming silence.

To all the non Amenians - speak up as if it was your family being frozen out of their home. Speak up as if it was your parents captured and still held as POWs, tortured for over 2 years. Speak up as if it was your newborn child that doesn’t have access to life saving medication they need. Speak up as if it was your neighborhood being starved out by invaders. Speak up. While you sit with your families or friends this holiday season, eating and drinking in the warmth, bring this up. I don’t want to hear any “oh this is such a depressing topic, I don’t wanna think about it.” Your western governments are funding genocide, if you think of yourself as a decent person, don’t stay silent. There are many ways to help our people resist, and if you need help figuring out what you can do, listen or ask.

To all the Armenians - you are so loved. We will get through this. Our people are strong and survivors. You don’t owe anyone online your space or energy, be kind to yourself. 💜

Posted • Azerbaijan has blocked the road connecting Armenia and Artsakh for over 48 hours.

Artsakh is isolated, blocked from receiving humanitarian aid, and gas supplies are still cut.
