About 4 years ago (my first year in to TouchDesigner development) I tried to program an interactive fractal cube, my goal was to be able to scale, offset and rotate children cubes on their parent cubes. In computer graphics there's often an easy way or an optimised way of doing things. 4 years ago I spent weeks trying to do it the optimised way and ended up giving up and just settled for the easy way never to be used in a real time application. I was able to achieve 5 iterations (1555 cubes) of the fractal design before causing my computer to crash and even at 5 iterations it was only able to render one frame per couple of seconds. Over the last couple of days I've revisited this project and was able to use the skills i've developed over the last 4 years to achieve 7 iterations(335,923 cubes) at 60 frames/s with ease, which is close to a 10,000 times more efficient. it's sometimes hard for me to see personal growth or give myself credit, but a 10,000 times improvement is something to be proud of. I'm really excited to be able to include this in my next Installation Fractal Fiascode. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=739890646920119
