Your immediate support is needed to ensure these dogs receive proper medical care, behavioral assessment, and placement in suitable homes.

Current Situation
All seized Dobermans are now placed with rescue organizations
58 dogs are with local Ohio rescues
22 dogs are with specialized Doberman rescues:
Illinois Dobe Rescue (9)
Hand Me Down Dobes (10)
Georgia Rescue (4)
Medical & Care Assessment
Initial veterinary examinations indicate many dogs require nutritional support, parasite treatment, and dental care. At least 12 dogs need specialized medical attention for various conditions. The cost of care is estimated at $1,500-$2,500 per dog, which is why your support is critical.

Improving Future Response
The Board has authorized development of a Rapid Response Protocol for large-scale emergencies. Brandy Billington and Pam Gray are leading this initiative to ensure faster coordination of transport and foster placements. A draft protocol will be presented at the July board meeting and will include:
Regional emergency foster networks
Transportation coordination plan
Standard veterinary intake procedures
Funding mechanisms for immediate deployment
Critical Legislative Alert
IMPORTANT: A change.org petition currently circulating could harm responsible breeding practices.
While we all condemn the circumstances that led to this seizure, the petition contains language that would restrict hobby breeders
DO NOT sign or share this petition - it undermines our ongoing legislative efforts
Instead, Ohio members can effectively help by contacting your legislators (contact Kevin Priddle at [email protected] for prepared talking points)
Our Legislative Affairs Committee meets with AKC Government Relations on June 20 to develop a strategic response
Alternative ways to support prosecution of neglectful owners without endangering responsible breeding will be shared next week
