This is a husband appreciation post.

10 years ago we were a couple of recent college graduates who stood in Jackson Square and captured some of the early moments of our engagement.

I remember thinking multiple times throughout our shoot with “I’m going to marry this man. He’s going to be my huuuuusband.” And it filled me with glee, to think that the two of us would get to do life together for the rest of our lives and that maybe one day we’d start a family.

Fast forward to last weekend we stood steps away from where we took our initial pics with arms full and hands held by our children.

There has been such a dramatic storyline over the past decade but one thing that hasn’t shifted is the way just looking at my husband fills me with glee while simultaneously grounding me.

Through career pivots and multi city moves, through birthdays and miscarriages, he has continued to be steady in a world that feels very uncertain.

I have such gratitude for the gift of getting to grow with him…
to have and to hold
to love and to cherish
for richer, for poorer
in sickness and in health

As long as we both shall live.

Through it all he still remains my person and I love him. 💙

Then and now. Now and then.

I recently had the pleasure of cohosting a mother daughter brunch with my nonprofit and it wasn’t until I was headed home that I realized a full circle moment.

In 2017 I hosted my first young women’s conference and both my husband and our son (an only child at the time) were in attendance.

Fast forward to just a couple weeks ago and I found myself hosting again but this time our baby girl (now the youngest of four) was the special guest.

So much in our life has changed and is the same that it’s always been.

taught me early on that ministry should always be a family affair and I’m grateful they can all be a part of it ❤️.

Huge thanks to for capturing this moment!

13 birthdays with this one and I have to say he’s aging perfectly.

With every passing year I love him more than I did when we got married.

To watch him sacrifice for our family the way he does. Witnessing the way he fathers our children. Continuing to benefit from his skills in the kitchen.

What a ride it’s been.

Happy 35th birthday. Here’s to 75 more birthday celebrations 💜.

Eliana Suri Lightfoot Smith.

Born 11.14.24 at 2:43 p.m.

Family and friends have been checking in on me to see how I’m feeling and the response I keep finding come across my lips is that this time feels perfect.

It’s been perfection not that it’s flawless but in the sense of the word that means nothing is missing.

Our family is complete and while our little princess (what Suri means) has only been out of my belly for just over two weeks, she’s confirmed that she has always been a part of this family.

Our boys are completely obsessed (see the picture evidence) and my husband has served us so well I’m easily reminded why I gave him all these children 😅.

P.S. having a baby around the holidays is a cheat code friends. I’ve been getting baby snuggles, cool weather, Christmas movies AND food deliveries. Can’t beat that!

A THREAD 📌:

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to hang with my godparents and alongside with my boys we made some fun crafts (check out Art Hub for kids if you haven’t!).

When we got home our youngest decided he wanted to fold up his creation. But it kept reverting back to its original form which caused him to get frustrated.
I told him that it wasn’t made to bend in that way and let him know that as long as it had space it would continue to reopen.

As often happens when I’m talking to my children, God started speaking to eye. No rones people stay small because they aren’t given the room
So long as the paper was in my son’s hand it stayed contorted, but when he placed it on a surface like a desk, or a box, it was able to stretch out and get back to its original purpose.

As we prepare to enter the last quarter of the year in just a couple of weeks, I wonder how many of you have ideas, dreams, or projects you haven’t finished because when you shared the idea with family or friends you were met with confusion, criticism or caution instead of congratulations.

It’s often difficult for people to cheer on what they can’t understand. But your job isn’t to try and help everyone to see what you see.

Your job is to be obedient to the vision. It’s to answer your calling.

I challenge you to ask yourself this: “Am I in an environment that makes room for my gifts or am I constantly shrinking to fit my surroundings?”

You can’t be everything to everybody friend. 🤷🏾‍♀️

But what you can do is multiply your efforts by leveraging automation, delegation and straight up elimination.

1️⃣ First automation. Ask yourself if there are any parts of your day to day routine that can be put on autopilot. Example: if you typically order the same groceries consider using an app like and use their “buy again” button. This one tasks saves me at least 20 minutes each week while grocery shopping.

2️⃣ Delegation. What are some things on your to do list that you could use assistance with? Can your spouse pick up the dry cleaning? Can your sister pick up the kids? Can a team member write out the project overview so you can focus on the presentation? Delegation is ultimately about recognizing the skill set of those you have in your life and leveraging it!

3️⃣ Elimination. Some stuff just doesn’t need to be done sis! And if you find yourself rewriting it on your to do list at the top of each week that may be a sign that it’s just not a priority this season.

Incorporating these 3 tips is a guaranteed way for you to operate with more flow and ease.

If you need help getting started comment ENERGY and I’ll send you a resource to help you on your journey.

“Once a woman is a mother, that’s all she’ll ever be.”

Can you believe someone actually said that to me? 🙄

As a result when I found out I was pregnant with our oldest son Jaden my heart broke because I thought I’d have to choose between freedom and fulfillment.

I’m here to tell you that was a lie my friend. And what has made the biggest difference in what I’m able to accomplish in life isn’t the number of children I have (we’re currently expecting baby #4) but on what I choose to give my time and attention to in every season.

It’s also been impacted by how much time I spend pausing and checking in with God to make sure I’m still headed in the right direction.

As a mom I’ve been able to:
📚 Publish 4 books
💻 Run successful businesses
✈️ Live in 2 states and 3 cities
💰Pay off debt
👩🏾‍🏫 Work with over 180+ women

And the list keeps going.

If you’re reading this and have ever felt like becoming a mother limited your potential to walk in purpose - friend, I want you to invite you to my upcoming Master Your Margin Masterclass ✏️.

On August 28th at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. CST I’ll be pulling back the curtain on how I stay organized as a business owner and mom of 3.

You’ll walk away from this masterclass with more clarity on where your time and energy are being spent and how you can restructure your day in such a way that you’re able to get the RIGHT things done on a consistent basis.

There’s room for you to do what you’re called to do sis. But it’s up to you to identify the space and choose to occupy it!

To sign up for the masterclass comment CLASS and I’ll send you the registration link.

Wellness doesn’t happen sis you have to work at it.

And I should know, not prioritizing wellness led to me passing out in my car at 7 months pregnant 🫣.

I know as women there’s so much pressure to show up in all the places and be all the things but whether you’re a business owner, corporate employee or the chief operations officer of your home you have to take care of you before taking care of everybody.

Next week I’ll be sitting alongside my fellow WEDallas alums Sammi Bivens of and Haydee Clark of to discuss how we prioritize wellness as a part of ’s Dallas Startup Week!

The event is free to attend but register if you can so they can send you important updates!

Link to sign up is in my stories 🧡.
