Who's ready for a brand new episode of the Rural Woman Podcast?

My guest this week is Hanah Konschuh

Hannah is a grain farmer, operating Generation Land & Grain Co. near Cluny Alberta, joining her family farm as part of their succession plan. Prior to that, Hannah completed a B.Sc in Agriculture and M.Sc. in Soil Science at the University of Saskatchewan and worked in a number of research and policy roles.

Hannah co-launched a podcast called the Diversity Imperative , a podcast about unearthing the agriculture sector’s diversity potential. The podcast has garnered broad industry support and explores many issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion including making space for nuanced dialogue and making diversity and inclusion a topic that everyone across the agricultural sector is comfortable engaging in.

In honour of , we are revisiting 2 of our favorite podcast episodes from Season 1. Reflect with us.

Episode 6: Understanding from the Land with Melissa Arcand, Assistant Professor and Soil Biogeochemist from the U of S who hails from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Treaty 6 Territory and teaches in the Kanawayihetaytan Askiy program, designed to train students to work in resource management.

Episode 8: Lost Harvests with Dr. Sarah Carter, Professor in the department of History and Classics, and Faculty of Native Studies at the U of A. We discuss her seminal book Lost Harvests; Prairie Indian Reserve Farmers and Government Policy.

Creating Inclusive Cultures; Expanding Influence and Disrupting Bias with Claire Cowan is out now! Listen in as Claire helps us focus on 2 key concepts that contribute to actionable strategies to help build inclusive cultures.

Claire Cowan is an entrepreneur and facilitator in the seed industry and we were thrilled to discuss and learn about her workshop, Creating Inclusive Cultures, created specifically for the agriculture sector. This course allows participants to build pragmatic and specific inclusion building skills, and to practice those skills, like disrupting bias. Claire also shares some excellent tips on what to do if you’re on the receiving end of some tough feedback about your own actions.

Megz Reynolds and Himadry Singh of DMAF in conversation with Amy Vanderheide, farmer from Nova Scotia and Stuart Chutter, farmer from Saskatchewan, discuss and share their perspectives on important topics such as the power of language to build community and overcome mental health stigma, the importance of representation, understanding our own mental health to help others, and so much more!
