𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧......

Over the weekend, I embarked on a nostalgic task going through a decade’s worth of paperwork, as a result I discoved my very first podcast brief which I wrote in 2016.

This was the blueprint for what would become “The Sports Industry Access Podcast,” later refined to “The Sports Career Podcast.”

I vividly recall attending a conference in Singapore in 2019 where I delivered my first Sports Career Workshop. When someone asked me the name of my podcast, I replied, “The Sports Industry Access Podcast.” Observing their body language, I realized the name was too long. During my flight back from Dubai to the UK, I decided to simplify and rename it to “The Sports Career Podcast” clear and to the point.

Reflecting while I write this post here are three valuable lessons I’ve learned from this experience:

1.Execute Over Perfection: The excitement of executing an idea often outweighs the pursuit of perfection. Over the years, while my vision remained steadfast, the ex*****on has evolved through feedback and simplification.

2.Embrace Simplicity: In today’s fast-paced online world, simplicity is an art. Refining the podcast’s name taught me the power of clear and direct communication.

3. Reflect and Learn: Rediscovering my podcast brief was a powerful reminder of the journey and growth. Reflection is crucial for appreciating progress and learning from past experiences.

I’m grateful for this reflection on my podcast journey and the insights it has provided. Here’s to embracing simplicity and executing our visions with passion!

Sport Career Tip: Be ready for an unexpected meet ups with people who inspire you and encourage your growth.

Wednesday out of the blue I receive a text from Mary Kok-Willemsen, “Ed just landed in UK, free to meet up for lunch”…. answer was YES and figure out the details later.

I have learned the best experiences are the unexpected , unplanned meet ups.

It makes working in sports so special. For me and Mary Kok-Willemsen all started at the Athens Women’s Football Summit in 2019 which started a friendship I treasure with career guidance I appreciate from Mary’s wisdom.

Mary, it was so wonderful to see you and so glad you experienced parts of London you have not experienced before with wonderful conversations about personal growth and the growth of Women’s Football.

Keep inspiring Mary with your Coaching talent in Business and Football.

I look forward to our next unexpected meet up!!

Celebrating the 9th Birthday of The Sports Career Podcast!

On May 19, 2016, I took a leap of faith and launched my first three podcast episodes.

Pressing that launch button was nerve-wracking, but it taught me the power of believing in the unknown.

Back then, podcasts were a novelty, and many doubted their potential. Despite the challenges and countless lessons learned along the way, I’m grateful for the journey.

A heartfelt thank you to ALL the incredible guests who have shared their wisdom and experiences on the show. Your insights have been invaluable in inspiring personal growth and sports career development for our listeners.

Thank you for believing in my vision that began 9 years ago.

Here’s to many more years of inspiring podcast conversations! 🙌

This evening was such a privilege to be invited to the Screening of Story behind Glasgow City Football Club

My goodness what a story for 27 years Carol Anne Stewart & Laura Montgomery had a dream to make football accessible for girls and women.

From a vision from Carol’s Kitchen table their dream was to create the best Women’s Side in Scotland but they achieved more!

In 5 years it took them to win the league due to high standards and forward led leadership by Caz and Laura which led to 14 league titles in a row which beats any men or women’s titles in Football.

Also with the winning on the pitch of the pitch the club has supported players on and off the pitch with players career transition and care.

Finally the run an academy with 200 child starting at under 7.

I This is what inspires me about women’s football and I hope it inspires you too.

During the evening I ask the 1st question to Caz and Laura which was:

What wisdom with your 27 years experience running the club can you share with us to support the growth of women’s footbal?

Caz reply: Share the love to grow the game.

Laura’s Reply: We are all here to make a difference and impact to shape the women’s game differently despite the challenges, sharing stories not just ours is key that being different is possible.

This is why I am in the women’s football industry because of these stories on what was thought impossible was possible.

A special thank you Stef McLoughlin for the invitation.

It was wonderful to see you Neil McLoughlin Cigdem Turkan (Çiğdem Türkan) Fengze Yeh and the wonderful Karen Dobres
