So you don't need inspiration to begin creating what you want to create. You can just get to work. But that doesn't mean you can't also be a big fan of inspiration and enjoy finding it.
I'm inspired by acts of creation that are amazingly beautiful and moving. And I keep noticing that they are timeless. They don't have to be trendy or up to date.

And moving out of the polar extremes caused by self-judgment will give you a middle field of play you never knew you had. Once you get there you'll be focused and present to the now. You won't be nervously looking over your shoulder to see if a judgment is coming to get you. The outer world of distractions won't undermine you now that you're creating from here.

And those rare (but increasing) times when she's in touch with who she really is? Her face lights up. She knows herself as love and beauty and the divine energy of creativity. And inside that knowing there is no possibility of comparison.

I used to give a short seminar to businesses called "Welcoming Every Circumstance." It encouraged my clients to take customer complaints as positive material to create from. They would learn to create new systems, new agreements and newer, more trusting relationships with customers.

And it does not belong to the ego.
The ego wants it. But it really just wants the label of it: "He's creative!" But creativity comes from beyond the ego. It springs from an intelligent energy always present. Beyond my personal thinking. Beyond my tiny ego.

"Wow. I can't do that." That was my automatic thought about anything and anyone I admired. I was making everything personal and always thinking, "That's not me."
But when I began to see that nothing had to be personal, and everything could be creative, I could hear the same kind of talk and think, "Oh yes, I do love this. I am getting so many ideas from this! This is beautiful. I am going to use a version of this!"

That was my hardest lesson: learning that creativity isn't personal. The creative flow is not related to the ego. No matter how much the ego tries to get involved and take the credit.

I'm always able to see extreme "creativity" in other people, people like L.M. Miranda! Or G. O'Keefe! Or G. VanderWaal or Drake...! But by comparing myself to them every time I see their work, I distance myself from creativity itself.
And in doing so, I distance myself from my true nature.
And we all do that until we don't.

So creativity is our infinite nature, and extraordinary creative works thrive on the gift of time and attention.

Because we can't just "do" the magic of a flash of creative insight on command. We have to wait for that. Allow it in rather than force it to happen.
But we can do time and attention. All of us can. And the more we do that, the more often the insights come.
