🌟 Recap of an Incredible Weekend! 🌟

This past Labor Day weekend, BGTT proudly joined forces with Rethink the Narrative and the Esteem Awards for an amazing celebration of creativity in our community! 🎉 We’re so grateful to everyone involved for making this event a reality.

A massive thank you to the inspiring community leaders, filmmakers, artists, authors, podcast hosts, and all the truly remarkable individuals who showcased their talents. Your creativity and passion made this weekend unforgettable! 💫

It was a fantastic opportunity to come together, share our stories, and highlight the incredible artistry that surrounds us. Thank you for being part of this vibrant celebration! 🙌✨

Seventy years ago today, this nation was shaken by the lynching of a 14-year-old boy named Emmett Till. His only “crime” was being Black in Jim Crow America. And his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, refused to let the world turn away. She opened that casket and forced America to see what hate had done to her baby. That brave choice lit a fire that helped spark a movement.

Emmett’s death wasn’t just the loss of a child—it was the loss of a future, the loss of generations of dreams, laughter, and possibility. His story gave Rosa Parks the courage to stay seated. It gave Dr. King the strength to march forward. And it gave ordinary people the will to risk it all in the name of justice.

But here we are, 70 years later, and I have to ask: has America really learned? When we say the names George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, and so many more, the cry for justice sounds just like it did in 1955. Emmett’s face still stares back at us, daring us not to look away, daring us not to grow numb, daring us to keep fighting.

So today, I don’t just grieve—I recommit. I recommit to telling his story. I recommit to holding this nation accountable. I recommit to fighting for a future where our children can live free, bold, and unafraid.

Because the blood of Emmett Till still speaks. And it cries out to us all: Do not forget. Do not get weary. Do not stop until justice is real.
