Trial runs begin for Ahmedabad – Gandhinagar Metro extension to Sachivalaya

Gandhinagar: People traveling from Ahmedabad to the Sachivalaya (Secretariat) in the state capital will soon get direct metro connectivity as the trial runs of the metro have begun on this route to Sachivalaya. The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) today commenced the trial runs of the metro rail to Sachivalaya station in Gandhinagar.

Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail, which connects Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar, consists of two lines: Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir and GNLU to GIFT City.

The Motera to Mahatma Mandir corridor, known as the Yellow Line, has 21 stations, out of which seven are currently operational, stretching from Motera Stadium to Sector 1 station in Gandhinagar. Until now, government employees and the public traveling to the Sachivalaya had to deboard at Sector 1 station and take another mode of transport to reach their destination. However, this inconvenience will soon be resolved as the metro will extend to Sachivalaya.

Bhavnagar: The Ministry of has sanctioned ₹52.16 crore for conducting Final Location Surveys (FLS) and preparing Detailed Project Reports ( ) for ten major railway projects in and . This includes a major 40-km-long railway sea-link project between and Bhavnagar.

This railway project will be the first of its kind in the state of . The , which will be built along the sea route between Dahej and Bhavnagar, will directly connect to , ultimately leading to . Currently, travelers heading toward Mumbai must take the - - route, but once the project is completed, this detour will no longer be necessary.

Ahmedabad: Under the Sabarmati Riverfront Project Phase-2, a six-lane barrage-cum-bridge is being constructed between Acher on the west bank and Camp Sadar Bazar on the east bank. The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (SRFDCL), responsible for carrying out the work, shared the latest update on the project, stating that M/s YOOIL Envirotech Private Limited, South Korea, has been selected for the manufacturing, supply, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the Air-Filled Rubber Type Barrage.

As per , the civil work for the six-lane bridge and barrage has been awarded to M/s Rajkamal Builders Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (Tender amount: ₹239.92 crore). At present, survey work, soil investigation, and site mobilization have been completed. The design of the bridge is under verification and approval by the Design Circle of the Road and Building Department, Government of Gujarat, Gandhinagar. The civil work design for the bridge and barrage has been approved, while the remaining structural design is under verification.

New Delhi: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated development projects worth ₹146 crore in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts via video conferencing. He e-inaugurated a one-kilometer-long, four-lane railway overbridge built over the Ahmedabad-Viramgam railway line on the Sanand-Chekhla-Kadi road. This overbridge has been constructed at the railway gate near Munibawa’s Ashram on the outskirts of Nidhrad village in Sanand taluka.

The construction of this railway overbridge, connecting Sanand taluka with Kadi and Gandhinagar, has resolved traffic congestion and improved the transportation of goods for industries and factories in Sanand. On this occasion, the Union Minister also laid the foundation stone for a bridge near Chharodi Junction on the Chiloda-Gandhinagar-Sarkhej highway. Ahmedabad: Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the Udan Yatri Café at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad. Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput was also present on the occasion. Notably, this is the first private café at an airport in the country.

The newly opened Udan Yatri Café, located in the check-in hall of Terminal 1, offers snacks starting at just ₹10. The initiative aims to make airport meals more affordable while maintaining quality. Fuelled to run on 2 routes in as part of project under National Green Hydrogen Mission

New Delhi: As part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the Government has initiated five pilot projects for using Hydrogen in buses and trucks. Earlier the Ministry of New and Energy had issued guidelines for implementing Pilot projects in the Transport Sector under this Mission.

Accordingly, the proposals were invited for different types of hydrogen-based vehicles, routes, and hydrogen refueling stations. After detailed scrutiny, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has sanctioned five pilot projects consisting total of 37 vehicles (buses and trucks), and 9 hydrogen refueling stations. The vehicles that will be deployed for the trial include 15 hydrogen fuel cell-based vehicles and 22 hydrogen internal combustion engine-based vehicles. These vehicles will run on 10 different routes across the country viz., Greater Noida – Delhi – Agra, Bhubaneshwar – Konark – Puri, – – , Sahibabad – Faridabad – Delhi, Pune – Mumbai, Jamshedpur – Kalinga Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram – Kochi, Kochi – Edappally, – , and NH-16 Visakhapatnam – Bayyavaram. The above projects are awarded to major companies like TATA Motors Ltd, Reliance Industries Limited, NTPC, ANERT, Ashok Leyland, HPCL, BPCL, and IOCL.

Gir: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a lion safari at Gir Wildlife Sanctuary in Junagadh district this morning, coinciding with World Wildlife Day and the final day of his three-day tour of Saurashtra.

Modi spent the night at Sinh Sadan, a forest guest house run by the state forest department in Sasan, after arriving from Somnath, where he offered prayers at the Lord Shiva temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, on Sunday evening. Accompanied by some ministers and senior forest officials, he set out on the safari from Sinh Sadan this morning and also tried his hand at photography, capturing pictures of lions during the safari.

Later, at Sasan Gir, the headquarters of the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary, Modi chaired the seventh meeting of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL). Prabhas Patan: Devotees visiting Prabhas Tirtha will now be able to witness a grand Sandhya Aarti at the Triveni Sangam every evening. On the third day of Somnath Mahotsav, held on the occasion of Maha Shivratri, District Collector Digvijay Singh Jadeja participated in the Sangam Aarti with his family.

During the event, the Collector stated that it had been a long-standing demand of the Sompura Tirtha Purohit Brahmo Samaj to hold a regular Sandhya Aarti at the site, leading to this new arrangement.

Collector Jadeja performed rituals at the confluence of the Hiran, Kapila, and Saraswati rivers as per scriptures. He announced that a grand aarti, similar to the Ganga Aarti in Banaras, would be conducted here regularly. The administration has also instructed the boating contractor to start services soon, allowing devotees to witness the divine aarti while boating.

Gandhinagar: Passengers are informed that permission to increase metro train frequency between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar with direct connectivity has been obtained from Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Ltd announced today.

The official press note stated that now, passengers do not need to change train at Motera stadium or GNLU for Sector-1 and Gift City. Bus services will also be available between GNLU station and Gift City offices on every 30 minutes stopping at PDEU.

Starting from February 15, 2025, trains will run directly from APMC to Sector-1 and GIFT City on a trial basis as per the following schedule.

Motera: In view of the upcoming one-day cricket match between India and England being organised at Narendra Modi Stadium on 12th February 2025, Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Ltd has decided to extend the metro train services in Ahmedabad on match day up to 00.00 hrs midnight with higher frequency.

On 12th February, metro trains will be available in Ahmedabad (from Motera to APMC and Thaltej Gam to Vastral Gam) every 8 minutes. For extended hours from 22.00 hrs to 00.00 hrs, metro trains will be available from Motera & Sabarmati (i.e., entry is permitted at Motera Stadium and Sabarmati Metro Station) only to any other metro stations in Ahmedabad (i.e., from Motera to APMC and Thaltej Gam to Vastral Gam). The last train departure timing will be 00.00 hrs midnight from Motera Station.

After 22:00 hrs, only special paper tickets will be allowed for entry from Motera & Sabarmati, which can be purchased at Nirant Cross Road, Apparel Park, Kalupur, Old High Court, Thaltej, Motera, Sabarmati, Ranip, Vadaj and Jivraj Metro Stations on that day in advance to avoid queuing at Motera while returning.
It may be kindly noted that Metro train services between Motera Stadium and Gandhinagar will be as per the routine timetable only. Any ticket (QR / TOKEN) purchased for the return journey in advance from Kiosk, Token Vending Machine, Ticket Counters, or Mobile App will not be valid after 22:00 hrs. DeshGujarat.

In view of upcoming one day cricket match between India and England being organized at Narendra Modi Stadium on 12th February 2025, GMRC has decided to extend the metro train services in Ahmedabad on match day up to 00.00 hrs midnight with higher frequency.
