"I preach as if Christ was crucified yesterday, has risen today and would return to the earth tomorrow."

There is the common mistake in the use of the words, “Jealous” and “Envious” in the English language as the one is often confused for the other. The confusion however also seems to extend to the feelings of the same (emotions), so much so that it is very easy to be Jealous or Envious and not even know it…until someone or something forces us to think.

Giving and Receiving Cheap Grace

The term “Cheap Grace” was defined around 1937 by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, as the “preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, communion without confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ.”

In a nutshell, it more or less promises lots of benefits with little or no sacrifice attached to it. As those that desire to follow God, we are to shun the aforementioned message and embrace biblical grace. Biblical grace is God’s love in action which has been defined as “the unmerited favour of God to those who are under condemnation”. It is this same love in action that transforms a man from the inside out, making him alive and obedient to God’s will(Ephesians 2:1-8).

As those who desire to love God and follow Jesus Christ, we should not but ask ourselves the question, “which grace have I received, God’s Grace or Cheap Grace, and as preachers of God’s word, what have I been preaching, God’s Grace or Cheap Grace?

Prophecy is both "forth-telling" and "fore-telling". Simply put, Forth telling is declaring what is already revealed in God's word, the bible. Fore telling on the other hand is declaring what is not yet revealed, i.e., something that has either happened or will happen in the future. Both are inspired by God.

It is wise to know whether the “prophecy” spoken over you has conditions attached to it or not. Some prophecies only come to pass when God’s conditions are met.

Biblical prophecy is Not to declare a good, nice or courteous word over yourself or someone else and hope it will come to pass. Instead, to truly prophesy is to speak forth only what the Lord has said.

O Lord, how great are Your works!
Your thoughts are very deep.
A senseless man does not know,
Nor does a fool understand this.

Child of God, do not be afraid to set high standards wherever you go. As a representative of God however, you must do it with wisdom and in love as it might make others uncomfortable.

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." ~ 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

There are sermons and there are sermonettes. It is crucial to know when to preach for 15 minutes and when to preach for 45 minutes.

When God exposes us!

When the Spirit of God is at work during the preaching of His word, your thoughts, actions and plans become exposed (to you). This is one of God’s ways of hinting that He is omniscient…and believe me, He knows it all!

Many have quarrelled with friends, family and fellows thinking they told the Pastor/Preacher about them before the sermon started. Not so. God knows more about us than any man can ever reveal. When He, the Almighty exposes us, it is that He might save and change us for the better. It is only the devil that seeks to expose us that he might destroy us. The Lord will help us!

What if a man tells you he had a night vision of the after-life, where the Lord, Jesus Christ stood at the gate of heaven to allow everyone in regardless of whether they believed in Him or not. Such a vision or dream is called an extra-biblical (outside of the bible) revelation. I have nothing against extra-biblical revelations except that their intended message(s) should be supportable by scripture.

It is acceptable to say that if an interpretation of a particular verse of scripture cannot be verified or supported by other verses of scripture, then it is most likely not the correct interpretation or meaning. Scripture supports scripture.
