This photo which is on the first page of FPJ , was taken on 1st May 1960 ,on our Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park ground , Dadar West.

Some important facts -

➡️ May 1 is celebrated as Maharashtra Day ,was in the year 1960 when the state of Bombay was divided to create two news states namely Maharashtra and Gujarat.

➡️ It was under the States Reorganisation Act, 1956 that the boundaries of the state were defined.

➡️ Maharashtra Din was commemorated with a parade at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park, Dadar, where late prime minister Nehru addressed one of the biggest ever rallies on the eve of the formation of the new state of Maharashtra.

➡️Nearly four lakhs of people heard Shri Nehru on that day.

➡️ In the photo, at right Shri Nehru is seen addressing, while on left is a view of the gathering.

➡️The above Photo was published in "The Free Press Journal "which is an Indian English-language daily newspaper that was established in 1928 by Swaminathan Sadanand,
who also acted as its first editor.
