Spirit of Little Things, founded by three friends—Mick, Tom, and Josh—began in 2019 with a vision to craft small-batch gin that captures a uniquely Australian identity. Since opening their Subiaco distillery to the public in 2021, they have become renowned for their award-winning gin, seasonal cocktails, and vibrant venue. Each bottle reflects their “bush to bottle” philosophy, using locally sourced botanicals to create aromatic, one-of-a-kind flavours.

Spotlight on Sophie Hughes: Producing Sculptural Garments with Innovative Textile Treatments and Fabric Manipulations

Based in Boorloo/ Perth, Sophie Hughes is a Fashion and Textiles Designer, who explores the interplay of sculptural and asymmetrical silhouettes in her work. Sophie combines her extensive construction skillset with innovative textile treatments and fabric manipulations to produce sculptural garments. Drawing inspiration from natural phenomena, and visual art movements, Sophie’s creative process is heavily influenced by the form and shape collected through her research. Shape is then combined with complex construction methods, reminiscent of formal tailoring techniques.

Since graduating in 2023 Sophie has continued to design and construct new bodies of work, her latest concept draws inspiration from the inanimate and decaying subject matter of Still Life paintings. 

Come see Sophie’s works on the runway on Saturday 30 November at EVOLVE.
