About to watch HIM directed by Justin Tipping and produced by Jordan Peele. Keeping my expectations reasonable since this is Justin's second feature. Hoping for a strong performance from Marlon Wayans.

Overview
Cameron Cade is a rising quarterback who suffers a potentially career-ending injury after being attacked by an unhinged fan. Just when all seems lost, Cam receives a lifeline when his hero, Isaiah White, offers to train him at an isolated compound. However, as the training accelerates, Isaiah's charisma turns into something darker, sending Cam down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for.

In my happy place

I've been showing this movie to my students since I started teaching high school in 2007. It remains one of my favorite coming-of-age movies. On Thursday, I showed it to my kids for Juneteenth. We talked about what Akeelah was able to achieve and how the community came together to help her. Such a gem. Keke Palmer has been solidified as an Icon. ❤️🖤💚
