BUDLOX: Transforming the Transportation of Personal Cannabis
Bloomington, IL 09/28/2020
A leading expert in Cannabis Security Technologies, Budlox Inc., has officially released the only digital /physical solution to unlawful cannabis travel; A patent- pending tamper-proof security tab called “BUDLOX”. It’s a 22 point, block-chain fingerprint based, TSA approved foil security seal that allows individuals to seal personal cannabis in a locked and tracked container prior to traveling in a motor vehicle. The tamper proof seal is secured and scanned to the BUDLOX mobile app on your smart phone. A digital scan receipt contains a time, date and geo-location stamp of where and when you have scanned and uploaded the travel seal information to the BUDLOX database. It saves a copy of the scan as a photo on your phone.
Most medically-legal cannabis state laws require, when traveling in a motor vehicle, a container of cannabis must be ‘secured, sealed, and away from the driver’. Some argue these laws are vague and the terms need clarification by the legislature or the State Police. This portion of the law has created hundreds of new legal cases for medical ma*****na patients and legal recreational users alike due to the ambiguity, uneven enforcement and lack of public education on the subject of cannabis and motor vehicles.
“When you buy a container from the dispensary, it’s ‘sealed’ by a packaging company with little to no regulations on who creates that seal, how it’s created, it’s legal viability in a court of law, or its effectiveness in stopping unlawful arrests.” says CEO Roy Houston. “That’s where Budlox Inc. has filled the gap and offers a solution to a legally gray area. How do you tell someone they can use cannabis as a medication but that they cannot travel with the medication after you open it?”
Amplifying the security level of the BUDLOX seal, all law enforcement departments and first responders in every state with legalized medical cannabis can receive - at no charge - a separate login for the BUDLOX mobile app that allows them to verify legitimate travel criteria are met, or alert them to a potentially illegal situation.
They simply scan a BUDLOX seal with their BUDLOX app and their smart phone screen will display either a red or green screen based on the information related to that specific seal. They don’t see all the scan details, but it will indicate, for example, if the container was sealed within the last 3 hours. This 3 hour time frame has been shown to dramatically decrease unnecessary DUI arrests because it supports that the container was sealed before getting into a vehicle. If implemented, BUDLOX could reduce the number of Open Container and Instant DUI charges.
“While it's not BUDLOX intent to verify anything in the container, we do want to provide a safe and legal alternative to transporting personal-use cannabis. We know most folks just want to follow the letter of the law. We do, too. We want it effectively, quickly and with verifiable information. That’s BUDLOX.”, says Chief Information Officer, S. John Matthews.
