Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has urged wealthy individuals to build mosques as well as Islamiyya and western schools that will help in the moral upbringing in the society.

He made the call while launching a new Juma'at mosque in Sandamu Local Government Area of the state, built by AIG Mustafa Bala Sandamu, a serving pokice officer.

Governor Radda said building mosques and Islamiyya schools will go a long way in instilling knowledge and good moral character which will make rhe society better.

He tasked the mosque committee and the Sandamu community to ensure proper maintenance of the mosque and to use it as a center of learning and character moulding.

In his remarks,the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, thanked the philanthropist on behalf of the people of Sandamu and the Daura Emirate.

The Emir also inaugurated an Imam, the Deputy Imam and other members of the mosque committee while tasking them to always keepthe mosque in good shape.

Earlier in his Friday sermon, the Imam of her mosque, Sheikh Abdulhadiy Aliyu Daura described the building of a mosque as one of the acts if worship that attracts huge reward from Almighty Allah.

He urged the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for the country's leaders at all levels to succeed in improving the welfare and well-being of citizens.

The mosque launching was attended by a cross section of dignitaries that include the Katsina State APC Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Bala Abu Musawa, members of the Katsina State Executive Council and District Heads in the Daura emirate.

*I have nothing to do with the attempt to release Nnamdi Kanu, it is an unfounded rumour, I am busy with the security problem affecting my constituency" - Tafoki

The member Representing Faskari, Kankara, Sabuwa of Katsina State at the House of Representatives, Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki has denied allegations linking him to the letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, seeking the release of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdu Kanu.

He was reacting to a list of 46 lawmakers being circulated on the social media, alleging that they signed a letter to the President demanding Nabamdu Kanu's release from prison.

Tafoki said he was not among the lawmakers that signed the letter which was sent by some lawmakers to the President, describing Kanu as a divisive figure who has been involved in the violent struggle for the creation of the state of Biafra.

"What will I abe to achieve by signing the letter seeking the release of Nnamdu Kanu? Why should I support it? When did I sign the letter? These allegations are unfounded and I am very surprised to that my name was mentioned in the allegation", Tafoki said.

The lawmaker noted that he believes in a united Nigeria and has always worked to ensure the country's unity and prosperity.

He said since he became a NASS members he has been preoccupied with the security challenges in his constituency which has been battling with armed banditry and kidnapping.

Tafoki said he has been following up with security agencies and other relevant government institutions and stakeholders towards checking the spate of armed banditry attacks in Faskari, Sabuwa and Kankara Local Government Areas.

He explained that he has also met with IDPs and other victims of the attacks and assessed the assistance they would need to restore normalcy in their lives.
