🚜 Ploughing Championships 2025 🚜

Every year I say I’d love to go to the championships! The fact it’s only on midweek is always a pity!

If you’re lucky to be heading this year and if I was going, these are some of the stalls I’d be checking out for gluten free:

I’d also make sure to find to see how they are getting on with raising awareness for eating out with food allergies in Ireland and trying to get businesses on board. Note: Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease, however my son has a peanut allergy. Also, this kind of initiative would make it easier for Coeliacs eating out too!

✨ Gluten free at Café du Parc, Killarney ✨

One to save for your next trip to Killarney!
I had a lovely lunch the other day at with my mam and two sons. 🥰
A very family friendly spot, near the shops and the edge of the Demesne.

I was craving a good salad and it didn’t disappoint. But just wanted to note that there are loads of options to choose from and the waitress told me they have a separate fryer for chips and gluten free bread. The restaurant is in the Killarney Plaza Hotel & Spa.

An old post I did on Killarney came in very helpful in choosing somewhere to eat! 🤍

📍 Gluten Free at Old Street Restaurant, Malahide

🤍 I enjoyed this absolutely divine gluten free meal at recently.
The allergens aren’t listed on the menu but from talking with the waiter there are a good few options to choose from. I could have ordered coeliac safe chips but wasn’t feeling them at the time.

I had delicious gluten free baby calamari (cooked in separate fryer) for starter. For main I had the steamed fillet of black po***ck in a beautiful sauce! Check out the menu on the last slide. There were a few small desserts that were all gluten free but cheekily chose a cocktail instead! 😉 🍸

The restaurant is fab and located close to the dart, the marina and New street! One to save for a date night, girly catch up or a family meal!

🤍 Simple Gluten Free Pastry Parcels 🤍

These easy gluten free pastry parcels were absolutely delicious. I made them using ready rolled GF pastry. Three chicken pesto & three garlic mushroom. 🤤

Chicken pesto:
- chicken
- sprinkle grated cheese
- green basil pesto

Garlic mushroom:
- 2 medium sized finely diced mushrooms
- garlic mayonnaise
- sprinkle grated cheese

Cut the pastry into 6 squares. Add the fillings in the middle and bring in the 4 corners.
Egg yolk wash before popping them in the oven for around 20 mins. Delicious!

☀️ Walk & family meal at Howth Head ☀️
Sun come back please! On a recent sunny Sunday we drove up to Howth Head for a family walk and then had a lovely and relaxed meal in the Summit Inn. The amount of times I’ve drove past it and never gone in!
Well turns out they cook their chips in a separate fryer!

I also enjoyed a delicious seafood curry and rice. 👌🏻

One to save for your next weekend drive! 🥰

COELIAC AWARENESS MONTH

Check out this gorgeous gluten free Cajun chicken toastie topped with homemade mango salsa for some added freshness:

Recipe:
1 packet Green Farm Cajun Chicken Breast
2 slices of your favourite gluten free bread
¼ cup grated cheese
1 tbsp mayonnaise
2 tsps sriracha sauce
2 tsps mixed green shoots

For the mango salsa:
½ cup finely chopped mango
¼ cup finely diced red onion
¼ cup finely diced sweet red pepper
½ juice of squeezed fresh lime
1 tsp coriander
ground black pepper

☀️ TODAY’S GLUTEN FREE LUNCHBOX ☀️

This good weather has me dreaming of the Amalfi Coast! 🌊

Taking some Italian inspo for my office lunch today!

- Parma ham
- Mixed greens
- Mozzarella
- Olives
- Sun-dried tomatoes
- Cucumber
- Fava beans
- Olive oil
- Balsamic vinegar
- Gluten free soda bread
- Butter

🔥 🛞 🎈 🎂 CIAN IS 3! 🎂 🎈 🛞 🔥

GLUTEN FREE/ NUT FREE/ PEANUT FREE CAKE! 🍰

My youngest son was 3 yesterday! 🥹 I made a homemade birthday cake to suit my other son’s peanut allergy and myself being coeliac! It can be very hard to find cakes that are GF & suitable for nut/peanut allergies! And I wanted to make it!

I followed the Becky Excell Gluten Free birthday cake recipe and made it vanilla flavour. I cheated on the icing after I spotted the Betty Crocker ready made icing tubs and it was a Monday night.

Turned out delicious and I topped the cake with these premade/precut cake toppers from Caketop.ie
Delighted I came across this Irish business! Suitable for allergies! 🙌🏻 The toppers can be personalised, super easy to use, look great and delivery was really quick! 🎂

🥯 3 INGREDIENT GF BAGELS 🥯
Simple gluten free bagels. I’ve always been meaning to give these a try! They were a little messy to make but turned out quite tasty. Definitely best served warm so I toasted them when I was eating them the days following.

Ingredients:
- 2 cups self raising flour
- 1 tub Greek style natural yoghurt
- Mixed seeds

Mixed flour and yogurt together in a bowl well. Then spooned out onto a floured surface and shaped into bagels. Quite sticky I found but got there in the end!

Baked in oven for around 20 minutes at 190 degrees. I turned them around 3/4 way through baking. Best served warm and immediately.

I enjoyed a delicious them with:
- ham
- cheese
- Dijon mustard
- jalapeños
- rocket
- cucumber

I’d definitely make again but I’d say a donut tray would be handy to use!

🍕 GF pizza & chips, Vilamoura Portugal 🇵🇹
Better late than never! I am finally getting around to sharing spots from my holiday last October! 🙈
This gorgeous gem hidden in Vilamoura Old Town is defo one to save for your next trip! A follower kindly recommended this place and we were actually staying quite near to it! .bistro
I had a delicious gluten free pizza and chips! They also apparently do unreal rolls too but I didn’t manage to make it back another day to try!! 🤤
