Just recently in the past few days one of my home town surrounding smaller communities was impacted by large rain totals which then in turn flooded their community of New Richland, Minnesota.

Kryptonite Weather, Twister Cowboys, Twister cowgirls , and myself will be taking supplies when we get them to New Richland to help the community out.

🌧️ HEAVY RAIN & FLASH FLOODING THREAT TONIGHT
South-Central & Southeast Minnesota | North-Central & Northeast Iowa | Southern Wisconsin

The Weather Prediction Center has issued Mesoscale Precipitation Discussion #1327 for areas of Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.

⏰ Valid: Friday, September 18 at 8:10 PM CDT through Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 AM CDT

🌧️ WHAT TO EXPECT

Thunderstorms are expected to increase and organize into a linear complex tonight, with storms potentially repeatedly moving over the same areas.

Rainfall rates could increase to around 1.5–2 inches per hour, which could lead to significant rainfall totals.

📍 Rainfall totals of 2–4 inches are possible, with an isolated location potentially approaching 5 inches.

⚠️ MINNESOTA & IOWA

The higher flash-flood concern initially appears to be across southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, where soils and flash-flood guidance values are lower.

Areas that receive repeated thunderstorms could see rapid rises in water levels, ponding on roads, and localized flash flooding.

Storms may repeatedly track along the same corridor, increasing the potential for heavy rainfall in a relatively short period of time.

📍 SOUTHERN WISCONSIN

The threat could shift toward southern Wisconsin later tonight, particularly toward the Driftless Area, as the strongest moisture and lift move eastward.

While flash flooding is considered possible here, the WPC notes the greatest concern is initially farther west across Minnesota and Iowa.

2–4+ inches of rain could fall in areas tonight, with rainfall rates approaching 2 inches per hour.

If thunderstorms repeatedly move over the same location, flash flooding could develop quickly.

Keep an eye on water-covered roads and never drive through flooded roadways.

🚨 SEVERE WEATHER THREAT CONTINUES ACROSS MINNESOTA

Friday, September 11, 2026 — 8:36 PM CDT

The Storm Prediction Center has issued Mesoscale Discussion 2284, noting that the severe weather threat associated with Severe Thunderstorm Watch 666 continues.

⏰ Valid through 10:30 PM CDT tonight

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is moving across north-central and western Minnesota, with the threat continuing eastward across central Minnesota over the next couple of hours.

🌩️ MAIN THREATS

• 💨 Damaging wind gusts of 55–70 MPH
• 🧊 Large hail up to 1.00–1.75 inches
• 🌪️ An isolated tornado threat remains possible, with the SPC listing a most probable peak tornado intensity of up to 90 MPH

The strongest storms will have the potential to produce severe wind gusts and large hail. As the line moves eastward across central Minnesota, isolated severe wind gusts will remain possible with the strongest storms.

A second line of storms is also ongoing from far southeastern South Dakota into far northeastern Nebraska, although the severe threat there is expected to remain more marginal.

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a TORNADO WARNING for central Wadena County and east-central Otter Tail County.

🕖 7:12 PM CDT — Warning until 8:00 PM CDT

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Sebeka, moving east at 40 MPH.

⚠️ HAZARDS:
• Tornado
• Golf ball-size hail up to 1.75 inches
• Dangerous flying debris
• Significant damage to mobile homes, roofs, windows, vehicles and trees

📍 Communities impacted include:
Sebeka, New York Mills, Bluffton, Nimrod, Blue Grass and Oylen

🚨 TAKE COVER NOW

If you are in the warning area, get inside a sturdy building immediately. Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor and stay away from windows.

If you’re outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, get to the closest substantial shelter.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #666 for portions of southwestern into north-central Minnesota and eastern South Dakota.

🕕 Valid: Friday, September 11
⏰ 6:40 PM–10:00 PM CDT

MAIN THREATS

• Large hail, with some hail up to 2 inches in diameter possible
• Damaging wind gusts of 60–70 MPH
• A tornado or two cannot be ruled out, especially early this evening if a supercell can remain organized

MINNESOTA COUNTIES INCLUDED

Big Stone, Cass, Chippewa, Crow Wing, Douglas, Grant, Hubbard, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Morrison, Otter Tail, Pipestone, Pope, Rock, Stearns, Stevens, Swift, Todd, Wadena and Yellow Medicine.

Storms are expected to continue developing and intensifying this evening. The tornado threat is expected to be greatest early, before storms potentially merge and become more outflow-dominant.

We have a chance for severe weather here in Minnesota, far eastern South Dakota, and eastern Nebraska for tomorrow 9/11/16. The SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has highlighted a slight risk of severe weather for these regions which is a level 2 out of 5. 🌫️ MORNING FOG ALERT — SEPTEMBER 9, 2026

Areas of fog are developing across parts of southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin this morning, with some locations potentially seeing visibility drop to around ¼ mile.

📍 Areas affected include:
• Waseca
• Owatonna
• Albert Lea
• Steele County
• Freeborn County
• Ladysmith
• Chippewa Falls
• Eau Claire

The fog may persist through sunrise and into the morning commute, creating rapidly changing visibility for drivers. The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and increase following distance.

⚠️ If you’re traveling this morning, be prepared for sudden drops in visibility, especially near rural roads, open fields, and low-lying areas.

The latest NWS forecast also indicates patchy fog may continue into the morning hours across portions of the region.
