Combined Training Event Report🥇 🧡
Today we headed down the road to to take part in the Combined Training event — the British Novice 2 2024 & 90cm show jumping.
Dressage: I learnt the wrong test. And it was only as I went in and saw the short arena, not the long arena test I’d practiced that I realised my mistake 😅 was on hand to call the test, albeit a little touch and go because she was reading it off a terribly blurred photo from her phone and she’s quite blind (lol) 👓 BUT we all got our sh*t together somehow and Ember delivered a sweet test, the judge liked his canter and left a lovely comment “A lovely horse — super canter & balance within it, lots more to come” and we scored 69.42% which is equivalent to a 31 👏
Show jumping: The new tack combo with the eggbutt bradoon snaffle from and martingale combo worked SO much better, we unfortunately had the first fence down, but he popped round the rest in a good rhythm, I had a couple of dodgy shots where I apparently needed glasses too, but we ended on 4f.
We did come home with a red rosette — full disclosure, there were only two in the class — but I’m seriously proud of Ember. He gave me a lovely, confident dressage test for his first ever Novice, and an improving show jumping round. He really is the best little guy 🧡
