DOMentaryo: ‘It’s not media, it’s just bloggers.’

You mean the same bloggers who now have better reach than your dying networks?
The same ‘non-media’ who show up early, ask real questions, and don’t rely on canned press kits to do the job?
The ones who built their platform from scratch—no interns, no legacy logos, just guts and grind?

If that’s ‘just blogging,’ then maybe it’s time you updated your definition of media.
Because while some cling to titles, we’re out here doing the work, earning the trust, and showing up.

We’re not the future.
We’re the now.

Who knows what would happen if we stayed that night?

📆 CETV Sunday Reflections #3
☔ “The Night We Covered FAMAS—Then Left Just in Time”
The FAMAS Awards last year was a test—not of glamor, but of grit.

It rained. It poured. But still, CETV showed up.

I had to travel from Cavite with limited gear and lots of hope. On the digital front, Matt from AllHitz24 joined me via Zoom to help with the coverage. It was one of those “small team, big heart” moments I’ll always be proud of.

But maybe the biggest blessing that night?

I left early.

Not because I didn’t care—but because I had to prioritize travel, safety, and logistics. What I didn’t realize at the time was that I unknowingly avoided the now-infamous Eva Darren incident—a moment that overshadowed the rest of the awards night.

Looking back, I felt grateful. I got to celebrate artists, fulfill my duties, and quietly step away before the storm hit—literally and figuratively.

Sometimes in media, being early, present, and grounded is more powerful than chasing every headline.

That night reminded me: CETV doesn’t just chase stories—we choose how to carry them.

💭 “Jumping to conclusions” daw ako dati. Pero kung ganito kalalaki ang pangalan ng mga ‘awardees’ — dapat siguraduhin nilang legit talaga.

Let’s talk about this strange turn of events.

After the OVP and Net25 issued public warnings about an event called the Viral Awards, its official page mysteriously became inaccessible. 🤨

But here’s what’s even more curious…

Big names like Dingdong Dantes, Alden Richards, Jessica Soho, and Boy Abunda were listed as “awardees.”
And the GMA Network logo? Yep, it’s on the event poster too — under Invited Media Partners.

If you ask me, kapag ganito ka-A-list ang mga pangalan, you don’t play around with credibility. You get all your permits. You secure media confirmation. You don’t risk it.

The public deserves transparency. The artists deserve to know how their names are being used. And media platforms — big or small — have the right to question.

Because we’ve seen this happen before. And we’re not letting it slide this time.

🟠 REFLECTION | On Due Diligence and Red Flags

Weeks ago, I raised internal concerns about the so-called “Viral Awards” after spotting inconsistencies in their materials and claims. At the time, I was told I was “jumping to conclusions.”

Fast forward to today — the Office of the Vice President has released a public warning, Net 25 issued a denial, and the Viral Awards page has gone dark. I’m not here to celebrate being “right,” but to remind fellow creatives, media practitioners, and business owners:

🔎 Due diligence is not paranoia. It’s our responsibility — especially in an age where credibility is currency.

Let this serve as a learning moment for everyone, including myself. Never be afraid to ask questions, to verify, and most importantly, to walk away when things don’t feel right — even if others say “ok lang yan.”

This is not the first — and won’t be the last — time we’ll encounter glossy promises masking red flags. But if we stay informed and united, we can help build a media and creative space rooted in authenticity, not illusion.

📌 WHEN “WITHOUT FEAR” FORGETS RESPONSIBILITY
As someone who’s also in the media industry, I’ve always believed in one thing:
Fearless doesn’t mean careless. And respect is non-negotiable.

Recently, a major outlet published an article about SB19’s Pablo, making claims about his relationship, naming a private individual, and even getting basic details wrong—like the name of his company. The source? Just described as “unimpeachable.” No context. No consent. No confirmation.

To me, this isn’t brave journalism. This is clout-chasing at the expense of someone’s privacy. And that should never be okay.

At CETV Philippines, we’ve been called “fearless,” too—but we know where the line is. We don’t talk about what artists don’t want shared. We focus on their work, not their personal lives. Because if you truly respect an artist, you don’t invade—they inspire.

SB19 is where they are now because of talent, grit, and purpose—not gossip. And if you think “without fear, without favor” means breaking someone’s boundaries for clicks… you’ve already missed the point.

Let’s do better.

27/06/2025

No matter how cruel the world gets sometimes, I’ve learned this:

We all need a little dose of laughter.
Not just to escape — but to survive it.

Recently, I received yet another one of those “congratulatory” emails — the kind where you’re being “honored” with an award… but only if you’re willing to pay for it.
It’s supposed to be flattering. But honestly? It just made me think of one thing:

“Thank you… and curse you.”
– Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, crowned Queen of the Summer Cotillion 💅

That line made me laugh as a kid — and now, it makes perfect sense as an adult.
It reminds me how much shows like Phineas and Ferb and SpongeBob helped shape my sense of humor, timing, and perspective… even as I try to build something real in a world that often rewards the opposite.

So no, I won’t buy into recognition.
I’d rather keep showing up honestly — with my flaws, stories, and maybe a little sarcasm too.
Because at the end of the day, laughter — especially when it's rooted in truth — is what keeps me grounded.

Thank you for the offer.
But more importantly... thank you, and curse you. 😌

📌 FOLLOW-UP POST: VIRAL for the Wrong Reasons?

Yesterday, I raised a quiet red flag about certain award-giving bodies using celebrity names — even top officials — without public confirmation or consent.

Now? Let’s just say… the silence from the actual awardees is louder than any applause they were hoping for. 😬

We’re not here to gloat — just to remind creators, fandoms, and orgs: credibility can’t be bought. Prestige doesn’t come in a plaque you paid for. And using big names without permission? That’s not marketing — that’s misrepresentation.

Recognition should be earned, not purchased. And trust? Once you lose it, even a red carpet can’t cover it up.

📣 To everyone who stayed vigilant: thank you. And to the organizers still pushing these schemes — we see you. The internet sees you. And oh yes, karma has excellent timing.

P.S. This isn’t shade — it’s sunlight. 🌞

🎙️ DOMentaryo: “Kung May Resibo…”

🧾 Because let’s face it: ibang level na ‘tong clout-chasing.

🎭 Moral of the story: Hindi lahat ng award ay honor. Minsan, panlilinlang lang para sa kita at kredibilidad na hiniram lang mula sa mga taong hindi naman pumayag.
