The group of Mahavidyas is a curious collection of fierce, independent Goddesses (Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvneshwari, Dhumavati, Baglamukhi, Bhairavi, Chhinmasta, Matangi, Kamala) where one is worshipped in cremation grounds, another cuts off her head, and another is a cranky widow and a smokey swallower of the universe.

These 10 Wisdom Goddesses represent a specific cosmic function, and challenge the predictable fantasies in this world.

Do you know where does India's perfume heritage lies? It is in Kunnauj !

The Perfume history in India is predominantly linked to Kannauj, with its zenith during Raja Harshavardhana's era. Delving into the art of perfume-making, Kannauj has crafted attar (known as ittr) for over 400 years, pre-dating France's Grasse region by more than two centuries. Locally referred to as degh-bhapka in Hindi, this traditional method involves copper stills fueled by wood and cow dung. It highlights Kannauj's enduring legacy in the intricate and longstanding practice of perfume production, showcasing its historical significance in the fragrance world.

A curious fact emerges about cow dung, an unexpected source of vanillin during processing. Cowdung, of all things, actually produces vanillin when processed. Vanillin is instrumental in producing artificial vanilla aroma in perfumes. Axe Dark Temptation (a chocolate smelling deodorant) is probably the most popular deodorant which uses vanillin.

WHY DO WE ADD ONE RUPEE COIN IN THE GIFT COVER?

🔺Adding one rupee signifies a transition from an end to a new beginning, avoiding encountering a zero.

🔺Numbers like 101, 501, and 1001 are chosen to express the desire for undivided good wishes and blessings.

🔺The extra one rupee strengthens the bond, symbolizing continuity and a commitment to a lasting relationship.

🔺Choosing a coin over a note symbolizes a connection to Mother Earth and Goddess Lakshmi, serving as a seed for further growth in various forms.

The import of 40,000 doses of bull semen from Brazil to India marks a significant step in enhancing the country's milk output through artificial insemination. This decision, following four years of negotiations, has sparked both interest and concern, particularly among local cow breeders who fear potential harm to Indian breeds. The historical context of this exchange adds a fascinating layer, as it traces back to a gift from the Maharaja of Bhavnagar to Brazil in 1960.

The Maharaja's gift, a 'Gir' cattle pair, included a bull named 'Krishna.' This specific breed, characterized by down horns and a reddish-white coat, became the cornerstone of a genetic revolution in Brazil when it was brought to the country in 1960. 'Gir' cattle, particularly the offspring of the gifted bull 'Krishna,' played a pivotal role in shaping Brazil's bovine landscape.

The introduction of 'Gir' cattle in Brazil set the stage for crossbreeding with Holstein, a Dutch variety, leading to the creation of the hybrid 'Girolando.' Recognized officially by Brazil's agriculture ministry in 1989, 'Girolando' quickly became a dominant force, contributing to approximately 80 percent of the nation's milk production. This crossbreeding success highlights the impact of 'Krishna' and the 'Gir' breed on Brazil's dairy industry.

The Brazilian 'Gir' cattle, descendants of the Maharaja's gift, have not only thrived but also catalyzed a white revolution in the country. Their adaptability to extreme weather conditions and resistance to tropical diseases make them highly sought after in South American countries. The success story of 'Gir' cattle in Brazil underscores the potential benefits and challenges associated with the import of bull semen to India.

However, the decision to import Brazilian bull semen has not been without controversy. Local cow breeders in India have expressed concerns about potential negative effects on indigenous breeds. The fear of diluting or compromising the unique genetic qualities of Indian cows has led to opposition against this move.

In addition to the import of bull semen, the ongoing discussions between the Indian and Brazilian governments about embryo transfer add another dimension to this collaboration. Exploring embryo transfer technology suggests a deeper level of cooperation and exchange of expertise in the field of animal husbandry.

In conclusion, the import of bull semen from Brazil to boost milk output in India is a multifaceted decision that intertwines historical legacies, genetic advancements, and economic aspirations. So, in a way, Gir’s return is a homecoming to its original habitat.

What is the special connection between Ayodhya and Kanchipuram?

Many sacred texts, like the Shrimad Bhagvat, highlight how rare it is to be born as a human in Bharat Khand (India). They suggest that achieving this special birth requires earning good karma over about 100 lifetimes. Even celestial beings like Indra wish to be born in India to seek liberation. According to these teachings, true liberation, or moksha, can only be attained by being born as a human in India and sincerely practicing righteousness (dharma), knowledge (gnan), detachment (vairagya), and devotion (bhakti) while connecting with the divine. This emphasizes the unique and privileged opportunity presented by human life in India for the pursuit of ultimate liberation.

Bharat is the land of Dharma, Karma, and Moksha. There are seven revered Hindu sites, collectively known as the Saptha Moksha Puri, where spiritual seekers pursue 'moksha' from the cyclical nature of life and death. These sacred places are Ayodhya, Mathura, Haridwar, Kashi (Varanasi), Kanchi (Kanchipuram), Ujjain, and Dwaraka.

The intricate connection of spiritual significance between Ayodhya and Kanchipuram finds mention in the 39th and 40th chapters of Lalitopakhyanam, a scriptural masterpiece on the greatness of Kamakshi Devi. This scripture delves into the sacred connection, illuminating the special ties that bind the two ancient cities. Furthermore, within the realm of the 'Pancha Bhuta Sthalam' dedicated to Lord Shiva, Kanchi and Ayodhya are identified as 'Prithvi Kshetram'.

Thus, the spiritual fabric connecting Ayodhya and Kanchipuram is ingrained in the cultural ethos. Of particular significance is the tale of Ayodhya's King Dasharath and Kanchi Kamakshi. In ancient lore, King Dasharath, grappling with the anguish of childlessness, had a dream that guided him to seek the blessings of Goddess Kanchi Kamakshi, instilling hope for the prospect of progeny. Thus the ethereal connection between Ayodhya and Kanchipuram underscores the profound cultural and historical connection between these sacred lands.
