Malta Trade schools were famous in the 80s, but now they're gone. There comes a question.

Dar Mattia Preti in Żurrieq, is a historically significant residence owned by the local council linked to the 17th‑century Italian painter Sir Mattia Preti.

Nowadays, it is a place where engineer Brian Bugeja, who had a dream to open a small trade school he made it a reality. Brian instructs his students in trade skills of engineering in this tucked-away place.

I went to talk with Brian Bugeja about the concept he created back in 2016 and to pick his brain about the importance of these trade skills in our society and the vital need to have the next generation of tradesmen ready and experienced to take over.

I went to meet Andrew Bugeja, a Maltese Renowned Artist & Restorer from Birgu, who, for many decades, created planċieri (large band-stand), pavilions, decoration banners and catholic statues for village feasts in Malta and most of all, his true passion for restoring abandoned catholic statues and give them life again.
