A certified outfit repeater of these 2nd hand outfits this summer! ☀️😎

I was super lucky to spend my “last” summer (next year, I’ll be starting fieldwork as an ot grad student 🥹) traveling, while wearing my favorite thrifted outfits!

Let’s breakdown these outfits and where they’re from:
1️⃣ dress from during a 2nd hand clothing fundraiser our club did where they sold clothes people generously donated (such an amazing thrifting and fundraising idea!!! 👀 my other post talked more about this idea
2️⃣this next dress was from the amazing , my fav thrifting spot in San Jose so far! They have lots of locations in Cali if you wanna check them out!
3️⃣shirt and shorts from my mum who didn’t like the color anymore and the shorts didn’t fit her anymore! Getting secondhand clothes from friends and family is such an amazing and free 👀 way of getting clothes sustainably!

These pics were taken at Disneyland with my partner and his family, Thailand, Japan, and Vietnam, where I vacationed and studied abroad at this summer!

So sorry for the lack of posts recently 🥲 my mental health hasn’t been great recently and job has been taking a lot of energy, but I’m so grateful for you all for sticking through with me in this journey!! Hope you all had a great and sustainable summer!

Eco fundraiser idea:
Have your members donate clothes they don’t wear anymore for your club/org to sell for a fundraiser!

My friend, denise, did this to raise money for the org who advocates for our profession (occupational therapy). She raised over $600 from just this fundraiser with no oversight money since all the clothes were donated 🥹💕

It’s a great way to promote
1. Donating clothes you don’t wear anymore instead of throwing it away or letting it sit in your closet
2. Promote 2nd hand consumerism and make clothing cheap for more accessibility!!
3. Raise a good amt of money for a good cause w/ no overhead cost
4. Easy to plan, just ask for clothes ahead of time!

Hope this inspires y’all to host one of your own 💕🥹

PS the second pic is of a dress I bought from this fundraiser for only $7!! Ty for donating it hehe
She donated a whole bunch of cute clothes that she bought online but didn’t like the fit. Shoutout to her!!!

Celebrating the beginning of earth month! 🌎💕

Thank you Mother Earth for this beautiful nature 🥹 I hope to post more this month and sorry I’ve been so inactive, it’s been crazy in grad school but I hope to do more 💕

One little thing you can do today is think about your fav place in the outdoors and how you can do your best to preserve it!!

For example, if you love the beach 🌊you can buy less clothing with polyester since that material produces a lot of micro plastics that go to the ocean.

If you love the mountains or parks, you can pick up one piece of trash you see on the floor the next time you go there!

Hope this opens up your mind to little steps you can make to help the world 🌳

It's the most wonderful time of the year for gifting! 🎄✨ Here are four sustainable and budget-friendly ways to wrap your presents 🎁

Although I love seeing beautiful presents sitting under the tree🎄, it does come with the unfortunate reality of the waste produced by gift wrapping.

There's a Japanese philosophy called "mottainai," loosely meaning "what a waste," that has been used by my grandma and famously in a fun Obon dance song.

For this guide, I tried out four different alternatives that you could use to wrap your presents, and rated them honestly based on ease 😌and sustainability 🌎

Don't worry if you're not confident in your wrapping skills, because I promise I'm just as bad and these still worked out.

Tip: if you don't have the supplies, you can ask friends, family, neighbors, or your local "buy nothing" Facebook group if they have any extra paper bags, jars, string, fabric, and more! I was able to do all of these wrapping alternatives for free with the help of neighbors and friends.
