Press Statement – For Immediate Release
June 4, 2025 | Maryland County
ADDRESS TO THE PEOPLE OF MARYLAND COUNTY
Comrades, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters of this sacred soil—
We gather today not as spectators of oppression, but as voices of resistance. We come to Maryland County with no golden parachutes, no convoy of lies, but with the burning fire of truth and the undying love for the ordinary people who carry this republic on their backs.
I. Saluting the People’s Loyalty
We begin with our deepest appreciation to the proud and courageous people of Maryland County. Twice—in 2017 and again in 2023—you stood tall with Mr. Alexander B. Cummings, casting your votes not out of fear, not out of bribery, but out of conscious conviction.
On behalf of Mr. Cummings, on behalf of the Alternative National Congress, and on behalf of all those who still believe that Liberia can rise, we thank you.
You did not just vote. You took a stand. And for that, history will remember you.
II. Maryland Must Become a Fortress of the Revolution
We salute the leadership of the ANC in Maryland County—you have been the torchbearers of our struggle in the southeast. But now the stakes are higher, and the responsibility is heavier. This County must no longer be neutral ground—it must become a no-go zone for political opportunists and failed ideologies.
This land must not host rallies for those who auction off your rubber and your dignity. Maryland must be known across Liberia as the stronghold of the ANC, the home of Mr. Cummings, and the epicenter of the youth revolution.
III. We Have Heard You Loud and Clear
To the resilient mothers, to the fathers with calloused hands, to the youth crying out for schools and jobs—we say this: we have heard you.
Your concerns are not falling on deaf ears. The Indomitable National Youth Congress has taken note of your feedback, your frustration, and your fire. These concerns shall not be tabled—they shall be acted upon urgently and unapologetically.
This is a movement that listens. And more importantly, this is a movement that responds.
IV. Exploitation in the Land of Sweat and Silence
We are not blind to the exploitation taking place in Maryland County. Big companies arrive in tinted vehicles, sign shady concession deals, and leave your youth jobless, your forests depleted, and your workers abused.
This is not investment. This is economic violence.
Our people work without rights, without unions, and without dignity. We call it what it is: modern-day slavery, hidden in corporate suits and government complicity.
The ANC Youth Congress stands with every exploited worker in Maryland County. We will not allow our people to be used as tools of profit while their children sleep hungry under leaking roofs.
V. Government’s Transport Ban: A Planned Starvation
We strongly condemn the moratorium on all heavy vehicles transporting food and basic materials to southeastern Liberia during the rainy season.
This is not road maintenance—it is economic sabotage. The government has chosen to protect muddy roads over hungry stomachs. They have chosen to preserve transport over the survival of the people.
Let us be clear: you do not fix infrastructure by starving your citizens. You fix roads and feed people at the same time—unless your plan is not development, but deliberate punishment of regions that refuse to bow.
We urge the people of Maryland to brace themselves, to organize their communities, and to know that this wickedness will not go unchallenged.
VI. Cummings: The Only Hope Beyond the Status Quo
As the suffering deepens, hope remains—and that hope has a name: Mr. Alexander B. Cummings.
Let the people of Maryland and Liberia at large know: Cummings is not another politician—he is a breakaway from the broken system. He is not here to beg on behalf of Liberia—he is here to build a self-reliant, self-respecting, and people-powered republic.
He has not come to worship corruption or maintain recycled networks of greed. He has come to fix this country. And he shall.
VII. Forward, Not Backward
We leave you not with fear, but with fire. Not with defeat, but with defiance. Maryland County—your pain is real, your power is greater, and your day of reckoning is near.
Let us organize. Let us educate. Let us reject all sellouts, and let us carry forward the banner of the ANC with pride, discipline, and revolutionary courage.
Aluta continua. The struggle lives. Maryland will rise!
