Fine Groove Records is very excited to announce the release of a new single by BigTime Shine. "Ain't No Beach" will hit all digital platforms on Wednesday, November 13th. Co-written by veteran lyricist Jim MacDonald and BigTime Shine's own John L. Wilson, this rocker is inspired by a love for the land and the people of Western North Carolina who were terribly affected by the effects of Hurricane Helene. This song is dedicated to those whose lives were lost and to the survivors who are rebuilding their towns and their lives.
"Ain't No Beach" is also a bit of a reflection song lyrically for Wilson as it recognizes the 21 year history of the band his father, Johnny Wilson, co-founded in 2003 as BigTime Party Band and has morphed in what is now BigTime Shine. This song is musically inspired by the most legendary Southern Rock bands of the 1970's such as The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Marshall Tucker Band.
The initial draft of the lyrics was written by MacDonald prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. Wilson put his stamp on it during the pandemic and it took several recording sessions at Daxwood Studios in Fayetteville, NC with award winning engineer Doyle Wood to give it an authentic 1970's vibe. With this vibe in mind, the legendary Rodney Mills mastered the track with great precision. Mills is known for his production work at the former Studio One in Doraville, Ga with the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special and many more on classic recordings such as Sweet Home Alabama, So Into You and Hold On Loosely.
John Wilson composed the basic arrangement but, utilized the talents of his current and former bandmates to bring it to life. The musicians that joined with Wilson (vocals, guitar) in the creation of this song are current BigTime Shine members Todd Arrington (guitar), Tom Janyssek (guitar), Brian Pearl (bass), Randall Dowdy (drums) and former members of BigTime Craig Saunders (bass), Mike Harriss (drums), Doug Andrews (organ) and Ed Marconi (guitar).
