Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala: Never attempted a hit on Tebogo Thobejane & suffers life threatening chronic illness

Controversial Gauteng tenderpreneur Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala has declared he suffers from asthma and chronic tonsillitis, and should he contract bacteria or germs in prison, he will die.

Matlala said this during his formal bail application at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court.

He is facing for the alleged October 2023 hit on his ex-girlfriend, TV actress and influencer Tebogo Thobejane.

He revealed that he played no part in the alleged hit on Thobejane.

Matlala said after the shooting on Thobejane on October 17 2023, she in fact reached out to him from October 2023 until June 2024 asking for his help and protection since he is in the security industry.

“I ended the relationship during September 2021. There was no acrimony at the end of our relationship. I moved on with my life, and I got married to my current wife," he said in an affidavit.

" As at the time of the alleged incident, I was no longer in an intimate relationship with the said victim [Thobejane]. We have been cordial because we are not enemies and are civil towards one another,” said Matlala.

Orlando Pirates Head Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and five members of the club’s staff were involved in a road traffic incident on Sunday night.

The incident occurred on the R21 highway as the team returned from Gqeberha, following their hard-fought 3–0 victory against Chippa United.

Upon encountering a collision between two vehicles, Coach Ouaddou and several staff members disembarked from the team bus to assist those involved. Tragically, while attending to the scene, a Nissan NP200 vehicle collided with the stationary vehicles, striking the group and causing serious injuries.

Coach Ouaddou, along with the five affected staff members, were immediately transported to hospital, where they are currently receiving medical care.

The Club is in close contact with the medical team and will provide updates on their recovery in due course.

At this stage, our priority is the health and wellbeing of our colleagues. The Club has made arrangements to ensure that the affected individuals and their families receive all the necessary support during this difficult time.

After his suspension from Kaya 959, the station has officially terminated his contract.

The station sighted a breach of his Independent Contract, despite Sol’s written assurance to Kaya management in June 2023 that such conduct would not re-occur.

"Kaya 959 cannot and will not condone comments made on the MacG Vodcast, where Sol Phenduka is an integral part of the presenting team. Misogynistic remarks made about actress Minnie Dlamini were unacceptable and inconsistent with respect owed to women. As a content provider of our flagship breakfast show, his alignment with comments made on the vodcast, does not reflect who we are as a station, nor what our listeners expect of us."

Family and colleagues pay tribute to Nandi Nyembe

A teary Angus Gibson who worked with Nyembe for more than three decades says the actress was a well of wisdom.

"She moved me. She was solid and wonderful to be with," he said.

"Even when life had dealt her some hard blows, she was not this tragic figure, but was a glorious figure"

He looked back at some of the productions they worked on together.

"A lot of the cast of Isibaya didn't like each other. So When we worked on Isithembiso, it was important to pull someone in, and she was the one. She would offer her Saturdays to work with these beginner actors to teach them about the attention that comes with being an actor and acting."

He said," There were times when it felt like she would be on the street and lose her house. We didn't protect her from this great world. Like Mary Twala, Connie Chiume, Gibson would not see a replacement for Nyembe."

"She was one of the most loving and caring, rich in story telling. She carried, culture, history in her words, always giving of herself," she said.
